Reading were reportedly keen on him at one stage weren’t they? Season when Bowen and Selles were snapping up good young players before Dai pulled the plug

Yes but Pompey being a bit nearer to home might have made a difference at the time.

Top marks tidus.
Yes, that's the lad who even went on loan to Pompey.
A player in the Bellingham mould but obviously hasn't turned out to be quite so good.
I just checked him out and he is playing in Serie A again but once more loaned out.

He is quite a bright lad apparently-his dad made sure that he got his A levels-and one of the first things he did on signing that first contract was to take a dozen or so mates from school on a foreign holiday and paid for everybody.
Not so bright after all then.

Always thought highly of Lewis Baker and did well for us first time around. He's 31 so still a few years left and has an eye for goal however i would expect his wages to be more than we can afford even in his twilight years. But a big yes if doable.

Even an accountant might not balk at doing that if paid £50,000 per week.

Well, if his choice is another year of wasted time under Richardson or anywhere else, I think we know where he won’t be playing next year.

For a club without a pot to piss in Sheffield Wednesday seem to be chasing players everywhere.
How they have got away without a 10 point deduction next season is a mystery.
Typical EFL double standards.
Another legitimate reason why I’ve lost all enthusiasm for football right now.

They were taken over and were forgiven for the debt to Chansiri because he wasn't being forthcoming in negotiations, not exactly hard to see why they are suddenly on a bit of a resurgence.

Bannan will go back for next to nothing in the scheme of things as he loves the club, Weds will have to have agreed a budget plan with the FL ahead of the season start which they then must adhere to. They will also be very closely monitored by the FL like Reading were so there shouldn’t be any blowing their finances chasing the “dream”. Like Leicester their name at this level will make recruitment fairly comfortable and players will possibly take less because they want to play for those names and become part of their history.

We got relegated penniless and signed Wing, Smith, Knibbs, Pereira, Savage, Dean, Elliott and and Mola among others. We would go on to miss wage and HMRC payments within 6 months.

Football may be corrupt, but we're in no position to complain.

Believe FL clubs are going to discuss it at the AGM in June, don’t think many clubs are too happy about the FL decision.

Just read the owner's comment about paying too much salary to two defenders who hardly paid. I assume one was Yiadom and can only think the other was Burns - unless anyone knows better. But Burns was a signing under their watch anyway.

What wage is Ritchie on? Feels like an obvious candidate for too high wages relative to impact for me.

Burns was a loan signing from Man City, so there's a good chance we weren't paying much of his wages and Man City were more interested in the loan being for his development. He also played more than Derrick Williams.

Possibly Matty Jacob? Stopped playing at the end of October before we sent him back to Hull in January. Hull would've wanted most of his wages paid by us and they were likely Championship-level.

I don't think we'll know for certain, but he does seem like an obvious candidate for that. I'd imagine he'd be one of our higher earners regardless of on-pitch impact.

It may be somewhat justifiable for him being on higher wages relative to his minutes, depending on how his experience helps behind the scenes.
