Garcia's obviously been sold. Fairly certain Harrison is a centre-back.

No Stickland or Elliott who both started the season as first team players

Well Elliott is injured and out for the season so the club aren’t going to waste a space including him. Stickland I would therefore presume must also be in a similar boat (has he been in the u21s recently?) but because he’s not really missed no one has asked the manager where he’s gone.

Stickers has been playing for the U 21’s.

Thanks, obviously then, LR just feels Stickers isn’t ready for the first team, esp. now he has good experienced cover. Personally would agree, he’s never looked particularly convincing to me but he’s still young (22). Guess all will become clearer in May as the club have a year option on his current deal, which is up in the summer.

Wonder if it implies he's about to go out on loan or whether we're holding a slot open for us to sign someone on a free transfer. Does seem very odd not to include someone who's available when you've got a free squad slot otherwise, as a few injuries at centre-back could lead to us needing to have Stickland on the bench. He's obviously leaving the club in the summer though.

I think Stickers won't be here next season. Sad for him, but just don't think he's shown he can reach the required standard.

Getting closer to talking about the summer rebuild. Think i’d actually release Abrefa, Yiadom, Elliott, Rushesha, Stickland, Camara and one of Rowley or Norcott and one of Clarke or Ryan.

Then offer new deals to one of Rowley or Norcott and Clarke or Ryan plus each of Beacroft, Osho, Kanu, Dorsett, Duah, Barough, Borgnis & Rinomhota

Probably also look to try and persuade Doyle/Brighton into a permanent deal and the same with Nyambe/Derby.

After that a real quality striker prospect (eg. Stones?) plus a couple of pacey direct wingers (eg. Lisbie) and a spare Charlie Savage type would be on my list.

What would you do if playing as manager for the day?

Ideally you want a squad of 25; 2 for each position, an extra GK and 2 utility backup players. Looking at all positions:

GK - Get some proper Pereira competition. Stephens 3rd choice.

RB - 2 needed, one of which I'd happily have as Nyambe

CB - Happy with O'Connor, Williams and Ward. Need a replacement for Burns

LB - Roberts is fine. Need another

DM - Wing, Savage or a direct replacement. Not sold on Fraser, so maybe sign a genuine starter and make him 4th choice. A proper retention expert/ball player needed.

AM - Retain Doyle if possible and A.N. Other. If not possible, 2 needed

Wings - Kyerewaa, go back in for Lisbie, Lane and A.N.Other

CF - Marriott, A.N.Other

Depth/utility - Kelvin across the front line, Dorsett provides LB and CB, Ritchie across wings and AM.

Means end of the line for Yiadom, Abrefa, Rushesha and a few others.

Assuming we don't go up. Here's what I would work towards:

GK: Pereira, Stevens, youth keeper
R(W)B: Signing, Abrefa, Ahmed
L(W)B: Roberts, Signing
CB: Williams, O'Connor
CB: Ward, Signing, Kanu
CM: Wing, Fraser, Spencer
CM: Savage, Signing, Borgnis
AM: Doyle, ??
RW: Kyerewaa, Ritchie
LW: Williams, Lane
ST: Marriott, Ehibhatiomhan, Patton/Evans

Savage - accept multi-million bids if they come in, and obviously needs replacing.
Doyle - try to sign him at a reasonable fee, say £300k with 40% sell on.
Yiadom - one of him or Abrefa needs to stay for some continuity. I think Abrefa is the better bet, but ymmv.
Keane - no thank you, he's offered little.
Rinomhota - yes in a hot second if he's fit and interested.
Ryan, Dorsett, Nyambe, Sackey, Stickland - time to thank them, wish them well, and move on.

Probably need a couple more additions, but that will depend on shape. From this, with just a couple additions/tweaks we could easily shape up for next season as:
3-4-3
3-5-2
4-2-3-1
4-1-4-1

Williams, Kyerewaa, Abrefa, Roberts and Ahmed seem capable at WB. I wouldn’t mind seeing Kyerewaa behind a striker. Kelvin and Marriott could be tried together or alone.

Manage your tight squad of ~25 senior pros with the support of a range of promising youth players like Rhone, Rowley, Norcott, Ahmed, Kanu, Boycroft, Borgnis, Spencer, Osho, Evans, Patton, so they still have a pathway. Mix them in, not wholesale, but sprinkled, for the Trophy and early stage League and FA Cups, to gain valueable first team experience.
