I can't disagree with much of that Schards, and I TOTALLY agree that additional expenditure this time last Year may well have seen us safe, but thats water under the bridge.

The thing with RFC and transfers is that we don't know what goes on behind closed doors; we don't know who - if any - we have targetted and what the terms of any deals (including wages) are. Something else that displays the integrity of the club (or, if you rather, that the club isn't transparant - everyone can see the same thing in different ways!)

The only thing I disagree with you in your last post is that the expansion has been kicked into the long grass; I can see this being resurrected in the next couple of Years not least, of course, because the expanded stadium would be used for events other than football.

Recession has one hell of an effect tho, some folk cannot afford the tickets now, is it that hard to see. I thi nk we all agree that if we did increase to 30 k after promotion that we would get full houses on at least a few matches in The Prem, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham and quite possibly Man C, West Ham and Newcastle.

All would mean a larger income to the club.

6,000 extra tickets sold for, optimistically, 6 games every 3-4 seasons. At a cost of £15million plus, you'd have to be selling then at an astronomic price to make a profit, whilst simultaneously creating a morgue like atmosphere for every other fixture.

How many times have we sold out this season, i'm not telling but i'll give you clue, it's less than one.

It's an expensive white elephant which everyone seems to now agree is a waste of time apart from one village idiot, one club mouthpiece who lives in denial and a couple of straggling doubters.

With decent crowds still to be expected against the likes of Bristol City, Sheff Utd and Birmingham I'll make the prediction our average gate for the season will surpass 20,000 which would be a remarkable achievement for a club of our size and history to achieve in the second tier of English football.

No one has ever attempted to use the crowd sizes in the Championship to support a case for expanding the stadium though.

Cardiff on boxing day was called a sell out, tho the ground was not full, the club said no tickets available.

if we want prem club we need a prem capacity, at the moment we do not have it. who dares wins sometimes, Tesco went out of town, folk said they were mad, time has proven them right, if you want to be a top club you need to compete on ground and attendances. Playing in the prem with 25k crowds will be fine in a 30k ground, the television money will compensate, same as it does at many other clubs, better to play in the Prem with 25k in a 30 than play in the Championship with 19k in a 24k stadium. IMHO

So the lower crowds this season are no reason to either expand or not expand, TBH it's a matter of gut feeling, who dares wins in many walks of life, RFC have grown slowly, and expanding is further growth, if we do not grow then we will not become an established top team, so for me it is better to expand and take that chance.
