The deal's been dragging since it started. McDermott wanted him before TSI, obviously couldn't get him and now has the funds to do so but i can imagine Roberts was aware of the interest but has taken his time to dwell over it. You'll have to ask Roberts himself why the deal is taking a while. All i know is, i was told by a source (who i believe entirely and have no reason to doubt) that he'll be a Reading player very soon indeed

Chappers does sound a bit strange but it's hard to tell if he's just laughing at the guy droning on or if it's because he knows Roberts is signing for us.

No idea if there's any truth to the rumours but it could just be that he's been here to talk about the football, our plans for him and prospects for next season (including money) if the loan is with a view to purchase (not sure it would be now that we've got more resources and he's not getting any younger).

From Roberts point of view this could be his last contract/transfer and so there's probably plenty of considerations on his part.

Surprised about this as heard that guy on Sat, didn't hear it after 7 though so not sure i heard Roberts comment but didn't think too much of it all at the time. Although for whatever reason I seem to remember thinking that Chappers maybe knew he was about to join us...

RoyalJames' point makes sense to me as i'm sure McD has said in the past that he only likes doing loans if they are with a view to being made permanent. Roberts was on MOTD2 weekend before last and he was specifically asked about his situation, didn't suggest he was going anywhere at all (though he wasn't asked) but did make it clear he wanted his future sorted out. At the time I got the impression he wanted to stay at Blackburn, so maybe since then he's had a change of heart or the move pre-takeover wasn't possible at that point.
