This is his last throw of the dice to be honest.Elm Park Kid wrote:Article with Obita suggest that his return is a 'long way off'.

Obita says that it will be a 'few weeks' before he can return to training even.
Yeah Barrett has primarily played on the left when I've seen him in first team or unders.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. It begins tomorrow. This is the squad as far as I can tell (I included CBC as someone said Gomes named him as our 3rd choice?) and we still have 2 big holes. Exciting times ahead. Is Barrett an AML?
GK - Virginia, Walker, Andresson/CBC
DR - Yiadom, Watson, Howe
DC - Moore, Miazga, Morrison, McIntyre
DL - Blackett, Obita, Richards
MC - Rinomhota, Adam, East
AMR - Meite, Barrett
AMC - Swift, Olise
AML - Barrow, Boye
ST - Loader, Novakovich, Baldock
That sort of confirms in my head that Barrow will play centrally a lot more this season.Snowflake Royal wrote:Yeah Barrett has primarily played on the left when I've seen him in first team or unders.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. Loader has barely played wide at all for the first team so I don't think so. Especially as I suggested he'd be better off transitioning to the first team there.NewCorkSeth wrote:That sort of confirms in my head that Barrow will play centrally a lot more this season.Snowflake Royal wrote:Yeah Barrett has primarily played on the left when I've seen him in first team or unders.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. Maybe something like that?
I get the concern but actually I'm pretty excited to see what he can do. Could be a Dembele at Fulham situation. I bet plenty of their fans doubted his ability to lead the line after his first, goalless season.Snowflake Royal wrote:Loader has barely played wide at all for the first team so I don't think so. I fear we'll see Loader lead the line more than Nova in the first couple of months.
Or No. Always used to play on the right or even centrally. In his first spell playing for the first team he played on the right. IIRC he only switched to the left wing last season but it seems to be where he has found a place Don’t hunk he has a chance of getting in the first team in a central role but don’t think it would be an issue if he was asked to play on the right.Snowflake Royal wrote:Yeah Barrett has primarily played on the left when I've seen him in first team or unders.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. Really could do with a striker though suspect that we’ll see Barrow, Boyé and Meite getting time in that position.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. It begins tomorrow. AMC? Hardly a priority imo. Plenty of players could fill in there as well as Olise being one of our brighter prospects.Sutekh wrote:Really could do with a striker though suspect that we’ll see Barrow, Boyé and Meite getting time in that position.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. And do still need an AMC.
GK is the biggest worry at the moment and both that and DL might be areas that need to be strengthened in January depending on injuries/form etc.
At this stage though a lot more to look forward to about the team than for the last couple of years.
Agreed. For me a combative CM is a priority so Rino can utilize his attacking instincts. LB is looking a bit light now Tyler is out for a month. CF I'm less concerned. It'll be interesting to see if Boye can lead the line or if he'll be used like Yak, bullying in form the flank.NewCorkSeth wrote:AMC? Hardly a priority imo. I wonder if a deep striker/false 9 could work with Meite/Barrow/Boye having license to come inside. Baldock and Loader could be suited to this. It'd be a lower Championship version on Liverpool's front 3.Tilehurstsouthbank wrote:Agreed. For me a combative CM is a priority so Rino can utilize his attacking instincts. Might add Holsgrove to the midfield, but another defensive minded player is required in there.NewCorkSeth wrote:Well. It begins tomorrow. Couldn't remember his debut and must have only seen him in youth games last season then.Nameless wrote:Or No. Always used to play on the right or even centrally. Can imagine one particular U23 midfielder's family might be spreading shit because they always are. The player is good friends with Howe but I've got the impression he spends a lot of time being embarrassed by his family.maffff wrote:paultheroyal wrote:A number of players and coaching staff are not overly happy with the rise of Teddy Howe. fake news, was a standout in the u23s, has had to do a lot more to prove himself then some others due to claims like this. He's very popular in the academy. No one has a bad word to say about him and never heard any gripes along the lines of those you're suggesting.
Nice try.
