The Premier League champions also limit the number of matches per season for which a supporter can sell tickets in order to prevent abuse of the system.

Got the email as well. I would encourage you all to send an angry reply just like the one I've just sent to customerservice@readingfc.co.uk:

'To whom it may concern,

Please see the below email sent from yourselves. What an utter disgrace this is. I'm now seriously considering renewing my season ticket next season, all of the management at RFC are a disgrace to the club for offering a cowboy organisation like Viagogo the chance to make a huge profit at the expense of the ordinary fan!

Never forget the fans are what makes the club, and you'll need us next season when we're playing in the Championship with a standard pitiful half empty stadium!

I don't even expect a response because it seems clear that the people at the top of the football club couldn't care less about the ordinary fan.

The fact that they allow someone to sell a seat for up to 200% of face value is an utter joke and quite frankly it should be illegal. It would be if you did that outside the ground on a match day!

Unfortunately with the amount of money the club will make in the Prem, then they could probably go a few seasons without any fans attending home games and still be ok. Fans contributions towards the club died years ago

I work in the Music/Theatre industry, and we went through this a couple of years ago with concert tickets.

A series of court cases eventually ruled that as people own the tickets, it was unlawful to prevent sale. Glasto went with photo ID required for entry, which although was legally fine, caused under-reported problems at the gate. The ticket seller still reserve the right to refuse entry if it's in the Ts and Cs, but in the real world it's just not practical or cost effective to check everyone's identity.

The eventual industry leaning was "if you can't beat them join them". E-bay, Viagogo, and Seatwave (owned by Ticketmaster) at least offer some protection for the buyer, whilst a dogey bloke outside a venue doesn't. Of course without a valid street vendors licence and proof of Tax, that bloke is breaking the law anyway.

I suspect that is being over generous with regard to the motivations of the companies you mention - far more likely to be that we can make a killing here and still operate within the law, even if morally it appears a little shabby.

Would like to cash in on our season tickets for the Arsenal game but will not do so because I cannot bring myself to use an arrangement such as that set up with Viagogo which profits considerably at the expense of supporters.

The whole problem I have with this is the suggestion that you can make ridiculous profits on tickets.

If you can't make the game, and you want to sell the ticket do so at face value FFS.

Whilst I don't like the principle of Viagogo, I won't pass up the opportunity of getting a few quid back so will be putting two tickets on there for Chelsea. 1 adult and 1 U16 in GU9.

Arghhh, Swansea tickets 2x adults for a total of £90.

£45 a ticket in effect, including handling fees, and all the result.
