Coaches hold about 50, double decker buses probably hold near twice that when packed.

So just 175 needed !!

But the plans say parking for 100 buses so a lot of offsite space needed somewhere for the balance (even allowing for the local buses to eachdo 3 or 4 round trips)

So where will they find these 100+ buses from? I don't think Reading Transport has that many!

I'd guess there woul dbe a big focus on buses from outlaying areas so companies / coach companies other than Reading Buses would be involved. Still a lot to find !

Shuttle buses are great if you catch the first one. Rather less great if you end up waiting for an hour or more in the rain - especially after an evening match. Certainly NOT child friendly.

stagecoach are running the buses from wokingham and bracknell

maybe buses from as far afield as maidenhead and staines/windsor?

If the new station is built in time, I will almost certainly use that for my journey home to Bas. However, as the pre-match ritual includes beer and food in Reading town centre and it seems unlikely that the trains will be that useful for getting from there to the stadium before a game. So it's possible that I can reduce Wok DC's anxiety by at least 0.5 of a person-return-journey. Does that help ?

If you would get the train from Green Park to Basingstoke why would you not do the bit from Reading to Green Park ?

If you would get the train from Green Park to Basingstoke why would you not do the bit from Reading to Green Park ?

The bus from town only takes 15/20 mins and goes right outside the stadium. What's the point of getting a train to the middle of an industrial estate, only to either walk from there or get another bus anyway?

Because you wouldn't have to queue for ages to get on a train, they leave at set times, they are also faster than the buses, especially on busy match days when traffic is heavy, and the walk from green park is not terribly far.

It will stop at Reading West though which means two lots of football traffic trying to get on the same train. It'll be quicker to get the bus from the station to the ground

Once the station goes in it would probably mean that buses would pick up from further away from the ground, thus dispersing the crowds even quicker...
