Surely if the club do outsource the finance, it would make more sense for people to get an interest free credit card (perhaps even with the benefit of cash back) just to buy the ST with and then shred the credit card - no admin charge, no interest payments and if you get 2% cash back, 4 free pints at the end of the season.

It was interest free as well bar the £25 admin charge. I'm sure an external company would charge far more.

Not necessarily. I am sure that they are companies out there who would like access to the client bank, as they could potentially then sell them more finance.

I believe that Mr M had believed £800 would be reasonable for this season - but was talked out of this folly.

Don't tell that to RoyalBlue as surely that would mean the club management have a better appreciation of the effect of a price rise than the chairman and as we all know they can't get anything right. And it certainly can't be that they listened to STAR as they never do

If any of this is true, then in my book it would just show that one got things even more wrong than the other and that both should take some lessons from David Gold.

And meaningful examples of when the club management have listened to and acted on the good advice of STAR?

Maybe they made good decisions based on what they thought they could get away with? Might not have been good decisions for us, but in a commercial sense they have got very little wrong. This club is run in a way that many other clubs apsire to be like and all that with it being run by people that you imply are not totally up to the job.

Whilst you may not be wrong in your views I still firmly believe that the commercial management have precious little understanding of the way football supporters think (and worse still seem to ignore those, like STAR, whgo can help them in that respect). This, I believe, could lead to expensive mistakes on their part when they, through their ignorance, push the loyal supporters just that bit too far.

So basically you have a hunch with no evidence to back it up. I like your thinking.

No evidence?!! Trawl back through HNA and you will find numerous examples of problems even fiascos (not just reported/claimed by me) that demonstrate a lack of understanding of football fans e.g demand for tickets, merchandise, insufficient programmes for historically significant games etc. etc.

You will also find many occasions where STAR have stated that the business experts have 'listened' to but chosen to ignore the advice of those who do better understand the pysche of the football fan.

Well my season ticket cost £545 (as did almost everyone elses) so how you can think that the club management settled for £700 needs to be explained....

As T.R.O.L.I. mentions, there will be a few of us who intend to apply for a long term 0% credit card (12-15 months interest free) and lumping the ST cost on that. The important factor is the date when ST renewals will be released so that fans can plan to apply for the long term 0% credit card of choice and benefit from the maximum amount of 0% interest time.

In this respect, the price is a secondary matter. Knowing the date when it's best for the fans to renew their ST is of prime importance.

I personally would like 2 months notice so that I apply for a new credit card.

Another option would be to get 2 cards, one that offers 0% on balance transfers over x months. Then buy the season ticket on the other card and immediately phone up the 0% card provider and arrange a balance transfer. usual balance transfer fee is 2%.

Not sure if that date has any relevance...
