Tbh there's been so much on here about this that I can't remember which pubs they were... There are dozens of suitable places around the centre though. I mainly frequent the gayer or more boutique (gayer in a different way) places, but you'll undoubtedly find somewhere decent. The Salisbury, under Oxford Road station, is a good mix of students, scallies and rockers. Good beer and occasionally genuinely terrifying. I dislocated my shoulder in there through slipping on the ocean of piss in the toilet.
