No, they play some crap mix tape before the game/half time with things like Party rocking by LMAO and other songs merged together.Nameless wrote:So that's all the stuff they have been playing for years then.....Royal Biscuitman wrote:My preferences
As the players come out - Lux Anterna
At the final whistle, perhaps only after a win - Sweet Caroline or possibly Congratulations
When we score a goal - Nothing... unless the fans start singing spontaneously, prior to the drummer killing it off with a bang bang bang. At a push, Tom Hark.
Half time - Ashes - Embrace, Sweet Caroline, Royals Anthem, Daydream believer, You were Always on my mind
Pre-Match build up, just before the players come out - You were Always on my Mind
No harm in asking fans which song to play, but if they back the boys and shout into the microphone chap gets involved in it with his "and here's our club anthem" and "words are on the screen" then I will lower my head in shame.handbags_harris wrote:s ever, the club are attempting to drive through something that will only ever work if it is spontaneously fan driven. LOL @ the idea that many people will sing along whatever is picked. Really don't get the obsession with Sweet Caroline.MmmMonsterMunch wrote:LOL @ Ashes being an anthem. Rock music for Waitrose shoppers.
.......Oh hang on a minute![]()
Sweet Caroline is the only one that people can sing along to & you know it.

Very pleased about this as when they did the fans' survey last season I said we need Sweet Caroline as an anthem & they obviously took notice![]()
Not enoughfor Embrace. I fcuking hope that isn't chosen.

So, are you saying that Terry and June leads to Girdler and then on to Ashes which has a long route on to Sweet Caroline?
it's depressing enough watching RFC as it isNo Fixed Abode wrote:How soon is now? If only for the start.....

No ? But all the things you've listed are just the stuff they have used in the past. Nothing new, original or interesting. I'd go for Mouldy Old Dough if we're picking something used before, although by preference I'd sabotage the PA and do away with music full stop.... It's unnecessary and no one really 'likes' any of it, we're just coming up with the least worst option.Royal Biscuitman wrote:No, they play some crap mix tape before the game/half time with things like Party rocking by LMAO and other songs merged together.Nameless wrote:So that's all the stuff they have been playing for years then.....Royal Biscuitman wrote:My preferences

I actually found Lux Anterna inspiring, particularly with a suitably edited video on the big screen..... but I guess they may struggle to make one from last seasons highlights.
If that's the definition of an 'anthem' how comes we got lumbered with 'God Save the Queen' as our national 'anthem'? Surely the least rousing and uplifting song ever!P!ssed Off wrote:Oxford definition of 'anthem' is:
A rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause
