Yeah, Stam is the limitation, it's obvious.sandman wrote:Stam is the limitation, not the players. This team need to let off the leash, they're good but they could be so much better if he let them mix his rigid style up and express themselves more.

It's not like Stam is getting better success from the players who were here under previous managers, or has brought in many players to contribute to a good run. It's not like he's already halfway to equaling our most home league wins in five seasons with just 8 out of 24 home games gone. It's not like he's currently got a win rate on a par, if not better than, McDermott or Coppell. It's not like we're in 5th having been consistently in the top 10 after finished 17th and 19th in the preceding two seasons, with Stam in charge for just six months.
Of course, Stam is holding us back.
What happened to the days when strikers were strikers, midfielders were midfielders and defenders defended. When did it become the "NORM" to be jack of all trades and a master of none?3points wrote:Did anyone else notice Joey having a go at Gunter a number of times in the first half for not being in the right position or tracking runners? Nonsense. Win games, especially at home, and people will come. I find it extremely doubtful our attendences so far are significantly down on the last couple of years. Feel free to provide some evidence they are.mambo3 wrote:2 factors have got us to 5th and it aint Stam. it is painfully obvious that some of the players are not comfortable with the rigid way we play and flair play is not the order of the day. we will probably end up in the playoffs as we will bore the hell out of the oppostion as we have done with SKY not being interested in showing our games. Sure we will be sucessful but at what cost. no fans watching ( near the bottem of average attendances)
any of our games live.
I very much doubt attendances under Jaap will be anywhere near as low as they dropped during the turgid and completely ineffective hoofball that we 'enjoyed' for most of last season.mambo3 wrote:2 factors have got us to 5th and it aint Stam. To claim Stam is not a factor in us being in 5th is just stupid.mambo3 wrote:

Actually, at that point we had started our decline, our peak of 2nd was after the 1-0 win over Charlton on October 17th.Nameless wrote:And we were just starting getting going... (briefly)Royal Ginger wrote:Steve Clarke had us 7th this time last year.
No whispers of Jaap sneaking round Craven Cottage though.

Thing is, this we're slow, ponderous, overpassing, no penetration, no creativity, no goals, need a striker.mambo3 wrote:2 factors have got us to 5th and it aint Stam. I am pretty worried about Fulham though at the beginning of December.tidus_mi2 wrote:Actually, at that point we had started our decline, our peak of 2nd was after the 1-0 win over Charlton on October 17th.Nameless wrote:And we were just starting getting going...
