I think the same. I can't see it being a high scoring game at all. The players need to be fully at it in 5th gear. Any lapses and Barnsley are very capable of coming here and winning. First goal is crucial. If we score early we could win comfortably, if they score first they'll put 10 men behind the ball.

Not particularly looking forward to this one, think Barnsley will do much better than expected and this seems to be generally borne out by results from their last few competitive games. Now I hear of their penchant for high tempo and high press it should be the first real test of the season for a team much more geared to a possessive game. Reading will need to move the ball about a lot quicker and not allow themselves to get caught in possession, could be a real come down after Derby if the team is not set up correctly.

We have struggled in recent seasons against the more physical direct football teams. Need a high tempo passing game to wear them down. Otherwise I fear that they will dominate us.

I'm a bit worried (hope we win 3-0 of course)... I'd feel so much better if we'd drawn 1-1 v Luton then won the shoot-out.

A great opportunity to break the home hoodoo of last season and set the tone with a 3-0/4-0/5-1 type victory.

Agree, sure we are very early into the season and losing today isn’t the end of the world but you’re right on the need for momentum, confidence and home form.

It would also be refreshing to win two on the bounce and try to get away from this false dawns we so often experience.

Also, if the naysayers are right and we are in for a tough season, Barnsley may well be down the bottom too so important to win

Will Barnsley press us and how do we cope

Will the manager pick consistent sides and tactics

Win and it's still early days but very encouraging signs
Draw or lose and it's a bit of nerves as if we want to progress it's exactly the game we have to win and Derby is potentially yet another false dawn.
