I feel the club are pleading the case for making more signings by naming a 5 man bench, we could theoretically have stuck a couple of youngsters on the bench.

We could have put more in if we wanted to, its just a message to the EFL. Could have easily named Dorsett and McNulty for example.

I agree, it's counter productive. I would much rather we put a couple of youth teamers on the bench for experience. We are realistically only a couple of injuries away from needing them to play so we might as well get them used to a match day atmosphere.

So they're now sticking by EFL guidelines and only naming players who are ready for the first team, hence a 5 man bench.
