Einstein agogo all i can say is thank got parrot face donkey robinson got injured..
also thank god for sidwell getting all the attention and deflecting the media away from a player who would grace any premiership team..
unfortunately he is going to get spotted in the next few months...
left backs are golddust... i can see teams of mid prem with money trying to nab him.. like newcastle etc.

Most probably but with a four-year deal, he won't go cheap if someone does!!

Big Ern Great news. He must have failed his medical at Upton Park. Lets hope he doesn't pass the next one in a week or two.

Passed the medical - wages were a problem. :D

The Rooster! Legend. Could get the ball and hoof forward without fail like no player I have ever seen before!

Hopefully they won't notice and we can keep him until January. You never know we might end up with a Cole/Clichy situation where we're actually ok to sell him in January (for a suitably large price) and find that Goldborne's actually plenty good enough to do a job? Hopeful, but possible.

Golbourne has looked like he's a better left winger than what he is a left back so far this pre-season. Seems to be a bit shaky defensively.

I only saw him in the Millwall game and he only played at Left wing in that game - I think it's difficult to judge him by a pre-season out of position - I mean if you saw Shorey playing centre mid in that game you'd be thinking why were we all so pleased he resigned....

I think with 4/5 months experience in the Premiership reserves, he'll be fine - but only time will tell... Like I say - let's hope because Shorey might well be snapped up in January and I don't really want Makin as our first choice left back!

Great news that Shorey has signed.

He's so good on the ball it allows us to keep the ball at times when other full backs would just concede possession. That might be vital in the Premiership.

Although he's not the most physical defender he rarely gets caught out when defending either and I'm sure he'll be one who catches the eye this season. My only worry is a lack of height at the far post when teams are banging in balls from our right.

Goldbourne is a good prospect but still looks like he's got quite a bit to learn before he can become a reliable Premiership defender. I suppose thats why Coppell was keen on keeping Makin for another season.

Maybe some first team football for a few months on loan in League One or even better the Championship might help Goldbournes development.

Yeah I agree with you. Maybe send him back on loan to Bristol City or a team that is going to be successful.

Oh and BTW people it's Golbourne. No D.

Really good to see Shoreys comments - apparently Reading meet his sense of ambition. Again from the Post

NICKY SHOREY is determined to help put Reading firmly on the footballing map as a Premiership force after being rewarded with a new deal.

As we exclusively revealed back in May, the classy left-back was in contract talks with the club and the 25-year-old yesterday put pen to paper on a three-year deal which runs to the summer of 2009.

Advertisementyour story continues below

Shorey, Royals’ current second-longest serving player having arrived from Leyton Orient in February 2001, told the Post: “I had to make sure the deal was right for me and that the club were matching my ambitions.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey and next season means I would have the full set of playing in all four divisions.

“But it is the Premiership where I want to be and it’s where I want to spend the rest of my career.

“When I was at Orient I was a young lad who was in and out of the team.

“I wasn’t even playing left-back there as I was a left midfielder.

“Reading came in for me and really put me on the footballing map.

“I had the chance to blossom and now I have the chance to show people that Reading are here in the Premiership to stay.

“That is why I have shown my commitment to the club, but it is now up to me to show I can play at this level.â€
