Anything could be considered a weapon though.
Shoes with hard heels could be used to hit somebody with, a mobile phone could be thrown at somebody, you could conceal a razor blade in your wallet quite easily. Your keys could be used for gouging peoples eyes, and if you roll your matchday magazine up tight enough, and pushed it hard enough into somebody's mouth, I'm sure you could knock some of thier teeth out.

Add to that the threat of drowning somebody in the beer they sell you, if you have a chocolate bar you could make somebody choke on it, and those pin badges could be used to stab somebody.

Seriously, our stewards should really make us put all our belongings, inc shoes, apart from our clothes into a locker so that we can't hurt any of the away fans or fight with each other, as that seems to be a genuine worry of the clubs at the moment...

I found it tedious today how they take the tops of soft drinks but you can buy a coffee and have a lid on it. I'd rather be hit by a soft drink than a hot coffee.

Interesting that at Newcastle there was NO segregation between the fans other than a few police dotted around.

For me, it confirms the theory that if you treat people like animals they'll behave like it - if you put trust and faith in them they'll usually reward you (though I appreciate security might be tighter at St James's when Sunderland visit!).

I was searched at Watford and they let me take in the can of sprite in my pocket. It would have been a pretty decent missile but I couldnt find anyone to chuck it at.

I had a key ring laser pointer with no batteries in it taken off me at Elm Park. I argued the "point" with the steward - but he had made his decision and was sticking to it. Upon getting it back from the reception at EP the chief steward said "Ah - so you're the one with the laser pointer - do you know that...........blah.............blah..............blah............." After he finished i said "Have you tried it?"
It got passed back to me quite quickly after he did try it

I also got into the MadStad, after being searched, with an umbrella. I put it in my back pocket. So i guess that if you want to get anything into the stadium - just put it in ya back pocket

I remember a copper asking us all to empty our pockets outside Selhurst Park one time so he could inspect our coins and keys, presumably if we had too many coins or dangerous looking keys we'd have been turned away.

At the Withdean a steward once asked me "Would you like to be searched?" I thought about it and thought as it was optional, I would politely decline "no I wouldn't" I said, to which he replied "well you can't come in then." :S

At Watford this weekend, I was about 5mins late in and was searched by about 6 stewards, I had just got back from Newcastle and had a bag load of stuff with me packed real tight. They searched it and found a can of deodrant, after debating between them (and me missing the football) they let me in. After putting the deodrant back in my bag but nearly blinding me in the process by pressing down on the nozzle.

At Watford I got a program, flicked through and 'safely' stored in under my seat. Then when I went to refer to it during the game... it's sat drenched in a puddle of water, totally ruining it!

Seems tthe people next to me or behind me's water had spilt, making a veritable river under my seat. All because they were given a bottle with no bastard top!

Now it occured to me, why were they confiscating the bottle tops? They were serving 500ml soft drink bottles. I almost felt like hurling my empty bottle at Henderson just to prove a point!
