New bus service from Winners, Wokkers, Brackers

How many buses will run on each route though? It sounds like only one and that would be pretty full.

I'm worried about this too.... Also, how do I identify the bus (number?).

Can't imagine it would be any more than 1 there and 1 back, only if its massively successful and oversubscribed would more runs be added. Wouldn't surprise me to see them run a single decker at first as well!

Also the fact this appears to have been a 'stealth' service isn't helpful, you'd think the club and bus companies would make a bit of noise in the local press and media about it.....

That would require some kind of foresight, intelligence, and planning from the club, right?

I think they might be worried about over-demand for it - if they have 100 people queuing for the bus at Wokkers first time out the phone lines to Andrew Peach on the monday would be red hot.

Much better to let demand ramp up gradually.

This looks like a good option for me. Anyone used it yet? It says that it stops in Wokingham on Broad Street. Anyone know where or how I can find out as I rang the club and they couldn't tell me! Where does it come back from at the stadium.

Thinking about using it for Sheff Utd, but won't unless they can be more specific!

I doubt if anyone has used it yet as Sheffield United is the first time it will run. It does seem a bit vague on details though.

Starts at Bean Oak shops 1328
Noreys Shops 1331
Broad Street 1336
Rifle 1340
Pheasant 1345
Mad Stad 1400

Buses will stop inbetween these locations. You'll need to hail the bus.

1. I don't know what number bus
2. I suspect that the return leg will load where the other football special buses load
3. I'm concerned that this may prove very popular. I shall be mightily fcuked off if the bus is full by the time it gets to Winnersh.
4. In fact, I'm so concerned, I think a brisk 2 mile walk from Winnersh to Wokingham in order to get in the queue might be called for.

Thanks. I saw that on OS and called the club for more details. they suggested I call Reading buses who suggested I call Stagecoach. So still got no nearer knowing more!

That's interesting so it is Stagecoach that is running these services not Reading Buses. Could explain the price difference (or not as the case may be).

I wonder if these new services are subsidised by the club as thay stated that as part of the extension they would offer low cost subsidised public transport IIRC?

I was going to try getting in from the station (well it says Sainsburys on Alencon Link ) for Sat's game.

Problem is, if the bus doesnt leave there till around 1pm, if anything goes wrong it will be very tight to get to the ground for 3pm ko.

This will be running every match day? Including Wigan on the Tuesday night?

Right - the Wokkers bus is number 953 according to Stagecoach.

The Riffle would have been a great idea except for the fact that I'm off the beer for a month.

I was tempted to try it but at the price publicised it's as cheap to drive and park and no worries about getting on or getting back. I'm all for services like this but they need to be cheaper to entice lazy gits like out of their cars.
