Michael Duberry, for over £2.5m? Oh dear lordThat Friday Feeling wrote:More detail here- big offer, no deal yet...G'La wrote:I feel sickThat Friday Feeling wrote:DOOBS ON HIS WAY TO ROYALS
Stoke City were chasing an experienced Premiership defender today to replace skipper Michael Duberry ahead of tonight's transfer deadline.

Good cover if true but I hope this isn't a "record signing"
There is NO way we will break our transfer record for Duberry. Maybe a fee of £500K would be reasonable for a player who could still do a job but who's best days are behind him.Stooper wrote:Michael Duberry, for over £2.5m? Agreed, I think this is an opportunistic signing with Sonks out for a while and Bennett not match fit/unproven at this level.Stranded wrote:We've bid the amount stated in his contract which allows him to talk to us - I doubt it's a huge sum. I will be shocked if Doobs turns out to be our new record signing.
Esp. having signed 2 CB's in a day (should Doobs go through).Big Ern wrote:Agreed, I think this is an opportunistic signing with Sonks out for a while and Bennett not match fit/unproven at this level.Stranded wrote:We've bid the amount stated in his contract which allows him to talk to us - I doubt it's a huge sum. If we are going to break our transfer record then I am certain it will not be on Doobs. Gera or Barnett are far more likely options for that, although £3million for Barnett
So apart from Gunnarson, AHrps and Sidwell, who else at the club is central midfielder who could come in and do a consistant job?skipper wrote:and have enough depth in Midfield....
Halford? - apparently he has played there for England youth quite a lot.Big Ern wrote:So apart from Gunnarson, AHrps and Sidwell, who else at the club is central midfielder who could come in and do a consistant job?skipper wrote:and have enough depth in Midfield....

He gained the reputation of being a 'utility man' having played in defence, midfield and attack for club and country. Although he has stated that his favourite position is central midfield

They just have to come and do a job and with Duberry we are getting someone who won't take time to settle in to the Premiership.
