Anyone no how new season ticket sales are going?

If we go to 30,000 seats it will alter the whole dynamic of season ticket holding and pricing, quite possibly in the fans favour.

Hasn't Nigel Howe already hinted at that though in one of his statements? I think it was something like it will allow them to be more creative/imaginative with the pricing in the stadium.

I believe he did and it is a statement any politician would be proud of - sounds good without tying their hands to any particular course of action. Technically it could even cover a creative/imaginative way of charging even more money!

Don't forget that there are very few, if any, free seats next to each other which will scupper the plans of people with kids who want to get a ST for the first time. They will be fine once the stadium has been expanded.

Very true, and only he knows what he has in mind. However this is a man who has been Chief Executive through the clubs most successful period both on and off the pitch so maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

We all know it would be stupid to raise ticket prices when there are even more seats available and I would guess he does too.

That's a bit premature. Up until today as a minimum you had to have attended every home (league) game last season to get enough points for a ST. I think they'll sell out around 100 points.

I'd imagine they will be constantly thinking about the logic of expansion - if we struggle next season it could be put on hold Iwould suggest.

Long term it makes sense - the ability to really be imaginative about ticket pricing is lacking at the moment but if they could reintroduce kid for a quid schemes, family packages etc then we could see crowds continue to grow ( giving the jealous fans of other clubs more scope to criticise our 'plastic' fans whilst they see their own 'genuine' crowds shrink !)

I seem to recall a lot of folk saying we would never fill a 24k stadium in the old days and it was a waste of money, it was not then and if we continue to succeed then it will not be now.

In the future the biggest clubs will play in the biggest stadia, in fact that has been how it has been for most of the past, hence we NEED a bigger stadium.

I for one would be happy if it was built and filled with folk paying £10 a match, in advance, once all the ST holders were satisfied, would anyone here really begrudge others paying less??

After all the choice will be there for the club to push on, that has to be the target, even if many of us are not that in love with the Prem product overall, we still need to strive to be there.

I trust you mean everyone paying less. STHs would simply not accept paying say £500 then have people getting seats for £10 a pop - I certainly wouldn't be happy about it.

I wouldn;t mind of a couple of times a season there were promotions where people could get cheap tickets for Wigan / Fulham type matches and we drew loads of 'new fans' in.

I wouldn't be happy if every game was available for £10 though !

Nothing against that - something similar to the buy for 2 games get a 3rd free that was used before is fine. But yes, not for every game.

Quite simply no one would bother with Season Tickets if the ground was big enough that everyone could get a ticket for £10 on general sale.

Phone calls to the club, in amount of time spent on the phone, has greatly improved. Don't let that stop you from trying! You'll be suprised!

The point is that when you look at what ST cost at Reading we are well down the list for charging high prices, we charge a flat rate on most stands with only the Upper west costing more, and that does not cost a lot more, compare with the better seats at other grounds and there is a lot of scope for raising prices, should the club wish to, and offer other seats cheaper.

However that is not the way Mr mad has run things in the recent past and i see no reason that he would change now, we already have kittens over a few seats lost for the expansion, TBH there might only be a few cheap seats available, works for airlines and hotels, they allocate some then when they have gone they try to sell the normal priced ones.

Sorry T.R.O.L.I - all sorted ! Got our ST's this morning; couldnt believe we could get seats right next to where we use to sit !!!! Just sad that I booked my summer holiday in the last two weeks of august - maybe I wasn't feeling that optimistic about getting a new ST when I booked my holiday?!

TBH there might only be a few cheap seats available, works for airlines and hotels, they allocate some then when they have gone they try to sell the normal priced ones.

now that'd be a strange system - an Easyjet style one with seats available for 99p for low demand games, but shooting up to £150 for "peak" matches, all depending on demand.

Also having the sections unreserved, and charge an extra £5 to be allowed in before those that don't pay that charge.

thats the beauty of the points system

people with loads of points already have season tickets

people with no points can't get them yet

which means it is easy for those in the appropriate points bracket to get them
