Probably Gerrard was with a group of people when a minor altercation happened to be blown up out of proportion. A story sells better when theres meat on the bone. Gerrard is apparently a very quiet and unassuming person when not on the pitch.
Simular to rape allegations made on many players it's possibly just an attention seeking pcunt who wants their 15 minutes of transient fame (not Gerrard!!).

Well, the Grauniad report says that the fight happened after the pub's DJ refused to let Gerad play his own tunes. (Given that Gerard's favourite artists are Phil Collins and Coldplay, he was doubly morally right!) Its perhaps a little telling that Gerard was still under arrest on suspicion of assualt 12 hours later, whilst the DJ was treated in hospital for cuts and a missing tooth.

I have to say I am very suprised. Never thought of Gerrard as the brightest tool in the box, but neither did I see him as a fighter. He's avoided trouble in Liverpool long enough to have no reason to get in a scrap now.

How different is this from the Leroy Lita incident(s)? People say Gerrard's a nice bloke and gets in a fight, people still think he's a nice bloke, but Leroy Lita gets into trouble and people say he's got an attitude. Go figure.

I think Steven Gerrard should be given 3 years suspended sentance, fined 20 million pounds, banned from going to the bar for life, given a electronic tag for 1 year and have to do community service for at least 18 months but maybe longer.
