My betting would be on a flippant, off-the-cuff remark which has been taken the wrong way. If he said that the bruising was darker than the nurses then I would take that as a flippant comment made by a naive 17 year old. Whats more worrying is the rampant pc bollox that continues to sweep through the nation.

Sounds more like a general complaint than a specific comment on this case. His 'my betting...' comment is no more unequivocal condemnation than yours (in my opinion as least).
