Six of the last ten finals have been one by one of the 'big four', and one of the others by Spurs. Four of the ten defeated finalists have been 'big four' sides, and Spurs have been the losing team twice. There's little evidence that the approach to this competition by the big clubs is particularly affecting who wins it.

Tbh I'd look at the smaller clubs like West Ham, Blackburn, Stoke, (and previously Reading), or whoever, who themselves play weakened sides in a competition they might have a chance of winning did they take it seriously.

So United and City both at home on the same night, first time that's happened in a while. City taking the competition a bit more seriously, reduced their prices and their game is not on Sky and still United get more than double the turnout at Eastlands.

You can't use the ACS excuse as to why United got more bums on seats, fans don't have to buy Carling Cup tickets.

So where were all these Mancunians last night?

Taking personal victory in attendance figures is almost as bad as when Alad used to take personal victory in which TV channel was showing which team.

If Man Utd were on SS1 for the midday game and Liverpool SS2 for the evening game he would claim that it was confirmation that his team was bigger and better and would quite litteraly lord it up for ages based on that.

How else do you work out which club is the best supported in Manchester than by comparing attendances for similar fixtures on the same night? City were also give a MASSIVE head start (price, importance of game, not on SKY) and were still miles behind. I doubt very much that flocks of cars made their way up the M6 for this game and to get less than half of what United got is quite embarrassing really.
