Crossbar challenging?

Thank you for a serious response - I heard someone had a broken nose and I wanted to find out if it was a widespread problem that needs to be raised with the club. Crosses during the game are not at all what I was talking about as you can be expected to be watching the ball but before the game and at half time most people still in the stands are not watching the pitch and so can be taken by surprise and hurt or covered in hot coffee.

But if you all want to take the pi$$ that is fair enough.

Its a football stadium. these things happen. Unless we want teams to warm up in a seperate area of the stadium (perhaps in the "dome") you cannot prevent such incidents occuring. It may have been the corssbar challeng this time but they also have shooting practise. They miss more often than they score.

Didn't someone sustain a wrist injury at Pompey in the first season of the Prem. This naturally needed medical attention. Also in the same pre-match warm up i got hit in the face but that wasn't a problem for me.

Are you looking at getting net screening put up as i thought the 'beware of flying footballs' signage was the only safety awareness the club had to issue.

I have heard of troubles in the North Stand when our players have a go at the crossbar challenge. Has anyone on here suffered or seen the results of flying footballs at half time or before the game?

I saw a lady get hit in the face on Saturday from a Darren O'Dea rocket. He was very apologetic and went over to make sure she was ok as soon as he did it, and at the final whistle.

Something I mentioned in the moments of the decade thread, but I saw Andy Hughes completely knock someone spark out with a bullet shot in 2003. Cracked me up!

Rightly so. Widespread problem? Balls in football stadiums? Is this what STAR represents now??? Next time the little boys start their penalty shoot outs next to the East Stand at half time, I'll be sure to tell them to stop for fear of hurting anyone.

Players have been asked not to play the crossbar challenge before the game & at halftime as a few people have been hurt by their wayward shots.

During these periods you're not always looking at the pitch so it can be a little hazardous sitting in the North Stand.
Reading players really aren't very good at it.

Karacan was asked not to, but he shrugged his shoulders and ignored the request. Arrogant sh*t.

I did hear one male supporter complain to a steward that his male partner had been hit, which made him cry and vow never to return to the Mad Stad.

The steward said it was a football stadium after all and these things happen.

He went off in a huff...........looking for Customer service.

Pathetic. And you wonder why people think STAR are a joke. Maybe you should start a protest about the price of a cup of bovril and let everyone else worry about the state of our football club.

I got flattened at Ashton Gate when a Welsh chap wearing a blue and white hooped shirt who jumped into the crowd shortly after we equalised. He showed absolutely no regard for the safety of the supporters who were going radio rental at the front of the stand.

Easy - the crosses are the ones that go out for goal kicks and the shots are the ones that go out for throw-ins.
