Would love to but no longer an option for some of us for unforeseen circumstances!Stuffed Crust Pizza wrote:I'll add my tuppence to this dicussion as its one that I feel very strongly about. Having sat in various locations of the East Stand since we moved to the new stadium twelve years ago - I must say that Y25/26 is definately the place to be for the singers. Having failed miserably with my Biscuit Boy campaign last year due to lack of numbers and the clubs insistency of employng thugs in orange coats, I moved my seat from Y19 to the back of Y25 in the summer. Joined by a few like minded supporters we do our best to generate an atmosphere in our corner of the ground that is not always heard in other parts of the ground. The noise seems to get lost on the pitch and often drowned out by the (predicatably) noisey travelling fans, pumped up for a day out. However I see evidence that the players hear our cries as they seem to (and always have) applaud our section of the home ends more enthusiatically than others.
I fully appreciate that when you are in amongst the noise it sounds the loudest part of the ground but compared to the drummer's corner and the north stand it wins hands down for volume and enjoyment. Since McDermott took over I've even started to hear original chants and they are continuing for over the usual thirty second burst. In the last two home fixtures we've even stood up for large parts of the game, unchallenged by stewards. And I'm sure its no coincidence that the noise levels and passions have risen.
So before you write us off , come and join us in Y25/26 and experience it for youselves. Or just continue to sit on your hands... if thats your bag!
Made a big difference to their teams performance didn't it? The way they roared them on to defeats was truly immense.Nobby wrote:There was once a time when away fans had at least a bit of a challenge from the home fans in the south east corner.
Now our fans in that part of the ground seem to have given up even singing. Barnsley and Plymouth fans sang constantly and the response from our lot was.....silence.
Why do you lot bother to sit there? For the number of you who have any intention of singing you'd be better off in the south west corner where you would be closer together and actually make a decent noise.
Failing that you might as well come down near the drummer. At least we sing down the north east corner.

As said before away fans outsing home fans up and down the country. It's about a siege mentality away fans are outnumbered so they will up the vocal support to make up for the numerical disadvantage.
We're actually better than some give us credit for but our fans seemingly worry about atmosphere more than supporters of other teams.
Yep, thats me! Did you join us in GU1? The stewards were way over the top that night. I was so incensed after the match that I went about organising a meeting with the club, stewards and STAR to discuss the aftermath of the evening. However in the coming weeks I decided against the meeting as I was so disheartened with the club and was sure to be fed a load of 'ground regulation' drivel.Nobby wrote:SCP was it you that tried a rally a few fans to the South West corner against Sheff U a while ago?
The stewards were intent on being idiots that day.

oh well, it's the club I love and I'm prepared to sacrifice being surrounded by silent mongs to watch them. Shame though really.
No I wasn't there. I watched from the north east corner but I was hoping it might lead to a little crowd building up there.Stuffed Crust Pizza wrote:Yep, thats me! Did you join us in GU1? In the summer I moved my seat the back of Y25 and have enjoyed the more buoyant atmosphere in the last few weeks. I agree that the singers would be better served in the north stand but I don't think too many would follow my lead. I'm also sure the club would be there usual unhelpful self. The noise generated in Y25/26 does seem to get lost somehow and I feel our efforts would go further coming from beind the goal, but I guess we'll never know!
YES EPIC +1! The original chant was ferocious and passionate but this is frankly embarrassing.URZZZZZZZZ wrote:What you mean "COOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEEE OOOOOOONNNNNNN RRREEEEEEAAAADDDIIIINNNNNGGGGGG...."Nobby wrote:At least we sing down the north east corner.
