Someone advanced the argument here (cannot recall the thread and wouldn't know where to begin to look, and YMMV in any case) that financial irregularities/irresponsibility of the sort that lands a club in administration is a form of cheating in that, if only by intent and not necessarily in effect, a club is trying to improve its standing relative to others by playing fast and loose with its finances (and of course, the 9-point deduction in the PL or 10-pointers in the lower division are figures arrived at in a fashion more arbitrary than scientific)
