Hicks and Gillette currently have the club up for sale for £600-800 million and say they have several interested parties.

Which smells of bullsh*t, with RBS apparently on the verge of stepping in to mitigate their own risk. No way the club is worth double what the Americans paid for it, and if it was valued realistically (ok, I haven't seen the balance sheet and income projections), say £400-500m, they would secure a sale sooner rather than later.

The comment re Parry - what was his role in this? Reading David Moore's letter to the Times last week, it's clear Liverpool fans lay much of the blame for this at his door, not least because the club failed to make significant checks on Hicks beyond his ability to stump up the initial funds, and also his dithering on the DIC deal. The club was promised no debt, and is now paying £40m in interest a year. That's contemptible on the part of the owners.

Yes, I'm a closet Liverpool fan, and it makes me sad that a 'once great' club (and still arguably the greatest in English football history) is now facing a few years, at least, on the sidelines of the game. Struggling to see how the club could be described as 'hateful' as above.

Difficult to see Torres and Gerrard being around in August. Reina signed a new deal, but if Rafa is going, he may want out too.

Yeah its almost like there's no difference in finishing 3rd in the league, qualifying for Champions League and working within a tight budget whilst a stadium gets paid off and finshing 7th, not qualifying for Champions League and costing your club a fortune which means the new stadium won't be built any time soon.

I've never quite understood all the LFC h8rs on here. I'd maybe get it if there was a sense of jealousy but when was the last time Liverpool did much to be jealous of (apart from history) I certainly don't buy the suggestion from some that it's all out of sympathy for Everton and anyone else who missed out on Europe post-Hysel.

Apart from anything, even if either of the above applied why would any reading fan really care? It's not even as if there's Liverpool equivalent of kes constantly trolling on here to foment some comedy faux-hatred.

Well, for me...I h8d them in the 80s when they were any good, carried on h8ing them into the 90s and as watching football means I never have to grow up, I'll happily carry on h8ing them and LOLing at their supporters.

So explain how he isn't in any danger of losing his job. Aren't there a few dissenting voices amongst the Emirates faithfuLOL? Does he have until next year to win a trophy?

Because Arsenal's board are happy with his side competing to the later stages of most tournaments, are happy not spending too much (especially after moving to a new stadium) and know they cannot compete, financially, with the other 3 teams in the Big 4. By spending significantly less than some of his rivals, he also keeps a lot of pressure and expectation off himself.

Too many times there were ambushes between Lime Street Station and Anfield with the scallies causing mayhem. Little kids with their "give us a quid to look after yer car mister". Stanley knife anyone? Joe Corrigan, the Man City goalkeeper got hit by a dart thrown from the kop. Anyone around at the time knew Liverpool fans to be amongst the most violent of them all.

Then Heysel happened. Wikipedia states the following:
On 29 May 1985, 39 Juventus fans were crushed to death during the European Cup Final between Liverpool and Juventus at Heysel Stadium in Brussels; an event that became known as the Heysel Stadium disaster. Just before kick-off, Liverpool fans broke through a line of police officers and ran toward the Juventus supporters in a section of the ground containing both English and Italian fans. When a fence separating them from the Juventus fans was broken through, the English supporters attacked the Italian fans, the majority of whom were families rather than ultras who were situated in the other end of the ground. Many Italians tried to escape the fighting, and a wall collapsed on them.

Did they learn? No. No humility, no apology, no sense of caring. And then came Hillsborough. All of a sudden Liverpool is up in arms at the perceived misjustice. Perhaps, if they had shown that they had learnt from the past Hillsborough may not have happened. Yet all we get is constant wallowing in misery and self pity.

I just don't like them.

So you dislike the fans then, just because they were a little 'nawty' in the past.

As for the 'best fans' tag the media give them, surely they give that to pretty much any set of fans they want to talk about, such as The Tarten Army (used to be very nawty at times too), the Irish, Man City, Toon Army, the ever loud Pompey, not to mention the number of times you hear the passion and noise of likes of Cardiff, Celtic, Villa, Millwall, Leeds etc etc etc praised.

Having the hump with a club because you pick up the media praising them seems a little weak if you ask me.

The owners of football clubs dont care about trophys - all they care about is money, the fact is Arsene Wenger doesn't spent hardly any money, he makes good profit on players and keeps the club playing in the champions league meaning the club is raking in the £££s. Its only the fans that want a piece of silverware, so Wengers job is safe cos its not the fans who decide whether he stays or goes.
