Remember it well.
I even had a half-hour conversation with the referees' compliance officer on the Monday-it was Webb's first season.
I suggested that he was too old and looked the archetypal teacher,civil servant or copper.
The reply was that he was indeed a policeman and was actually young and they had high hopes that he would do well in the future.
He has had a really poor season in the Premiership getting loads of decisions wrong,especially penalties in the big games where he bottles it.
Ideal bloke then for a world cup final.
I wonder if he ever thinks back to that dreadful performance at Walsall?
