This is why I disagree with the advice to do things the Stoke way in the premier; I don't want us signing the Woodgate and Pennant types of human being.soggy biscuit wrote:Jermain Pennant arrested and charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance after crashing into another car.
Without football clubs mollycoddling their assets like him these people would be screwed. I predict Pennant will be dead within 5 years of retiring.
Three Brighton and Hove Albion footballers and a Bournemouth player have been charged with sexually assaulting a woman and voyeurism.
Brighton players Anton Rodgers, 19, Lewis Dunk, 20, and George Barker, 20, and former player Steve Cook, 21, were charged on Monday.
The charges relate to an incident alleged to have taken place in Brighton on 17 July last year.
All four have been bailed to appear before Brighton magistrates on 11 May.
They were among six players arrested in January by Sussex Police.
Fellow Brighton player Ben Sampayo, 19, has been informed that no further action will be taken against him.
Brighton defender Tommy Elphick, 24, was eliminated from the investigation in January.

They assess the evidence and can then refer to Crown Court if they feel the charges warrant a sentence (if found guilty) beyond their remit.Royal Lady wrote:I thought magistrates could only give lesser fines/jail sentences - so I expect they'll not even go to jail.

However if you read about the incident elsewhere you'll find he was actually attacking somebody who'd assulted his mate first..

Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman in a nightclub, sources said.
The 29-year-old, of Dunham Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, has been bailed pending further inquiries into the incident in Manchester on Sunday.
Two hours after the alleged attack, the player was involved in a car crash and charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 3.30am on Sunday April 29 a woman was assaulted at a nightclub on Barton Arcade, Manchester city centre.
"A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault."
At 5.20am on Sunday, police were called to Cross Street in Sale, Greater Manchester, to reports thatPennant's white BMW had been involved in a collision with a silver Audi.
The driver of the Audi was taken to hospital and treated for a minor back injury.
Pennant is due to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on May 9 to answer the driving charges.

Didn't seem like the worst offender tbh. it's along time between the guy knocking his mate out and Goodwillie attacking him.
If you want to see the lol bit, it's after Goodwillie attacks the guy and he [the other bloke] tries to walk away only stacks it over an obstacle in the street
