The club will have subsequently realised that if they stood by their original 27th deadline that promotion would very likely be in the bag by then so the 'gamble' element would have disappeared and with it the need to entice us to take a punt with a lower price.

Fair enough. If I lived in Reading and was free every Saturday obviously it would be a no brainer, regardless of the division. Still, glad we're up and sure I will get to a few games nonetheless!

Many thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

The online ticketing site still had new season tickets available at £395 last week, and stated a deadline of April 27 (see below). I decided to wait until I had been paid on Monday (23/4), and noted that the offer had been withdrawn. Although you have provided the link below regarding the withdrawal of the offer to new season ticket holders, this wasn’t the case elsewhere on your website. As season tickets have now increased to £525, it is unlikely that I will be able to afford one at this current time.

New season ticket applicants, on sale now until Friday 27th April:
East, north and lower west stands: Adults £395, 17-21s £250, 65 & overs £250, 16 & under £99.
Upper west stand: Adults £445, 17-21s £280, 65 & overs £280, 16 & under £99.

Can you confirm if new season ticket sales will be available at the same prices as quoted above when they return on sale ?

I had planned to purchase a season ticket for 2012/13 by April 27, the deadline stated on the website. I see now that the offer has now been withdrawn for new season ticket holders. Firstly, would it be possible to let me know why this is the case, and also, do you make special allowances for former long standing season tickets holders with plenty of Royalty Points ? I think you'll be lucky but definitely worth asking when you apply. When we bought ours a few months ago there wasn't much to choose from in Y25/Y26, but then we did want three seats together. Movers week might also make a couple of seats available, but I would imagine unlikely.

For me it was a no brainer even though paying £350 just after Xmas was hard, but at least this time the loyal Royals long term season ticket holders have been rewarded.

Long term? You only had to have had one for one season...

I think it's a little off of the club to have made an offer, and a significant song and dance about it at the time, and then pulled the offer when they realised it was going to cost them serious revenue. In terms of it being a gamble, it's akin to the bookies taking your money but not wanting to pay out if you win.

17th person to renew my season ticket according to the TO.

That was on the 17th February, and we were 6th on the table

The only problem with an informal arragement is - it is an informal arrangement. I know to my cost having bought a season ticket (via Hobnob classifieds). When I tried to make contact to get some agreement that it was OK for me to renew it didn't happen and it cost me £40. I had to pay the new s/t price of £395 for a seat elsewhere.
