Interesting to note the scout working for the owner admission, not sure what that says about our transfer strategy(ie purchasing rough gems,buying younger players to sell on etc)- leaves it a tad cloudy for me. Scouting cannot be underestimated in arming the manager with a squad capable of playing his own brand of football. Too many cooks in this department may spoil the broth in keeping the manager focused on the job in hand which is to overhaul a squad full of individual talent but lacking a team focus....

Meh, it's just another inevitable step towards the Americanisation of the game as is the stat crunching. Team managers have much less of a say over there in their major sports with the Nigel Howe characters doing the dealings aided by an army of scouts and statisticians.

People resist it, but things naturally change, and so slowly is football.

I am going to be brave here and go on record. This is going to happen and he will flop. We are going to be lumbered with another attacker who can't score/has an attitude problem.
