Mr M has already stated [can't remember where] that every new seat costs £1000. This means that if the capacity rises by 16000 then 16 million will need to be realised. This means that even if all seats are sold it will take 2 seasons bvefore there is any profit.
I reckon that mr M will be likely to hike prices again on the strength of this outlay.

2 year pay back is very quick though. You would imagine a businessman who can see his investment turn a profit in that time would be pretty happy.

Mr M won;t make that on his redevelopment of the station area....

I'd be pretty sure that the stadium devlopment won;t be funded out of this season's ticket sales.

I would really like to see a decrease of around £100 per ticket. This would cost the club £2 million for season ticket losses. It could however increase some prices for match day sales to offset this. It could also rake back some income from hospitality and from peripheral sales prices. The increase in revenue from Sky would still leave the club massively better off.

However, I would not be at all surprised to see a hike in price of up to £100 per ticket.....

If you added £10 per ticket to match day sales it wouldn't claw back much of that £2 million !

A 20% reduction in prices is not going to happen in a stadium where demand outstrips supply. If any of us knew the true operating costs and income we could come up with some realistic figures.

Whist I'm sure that's true, given that we finished last season with a £10m overdraft and now have a wage bill entering the stratosphere, not to mention £20m that will need stumping up for the stadium expansion, I doubt the money men are currently having to work too hard in this respect

I'd love to know how the figures stack up for this for this finanicial year. And next year will be even more interesting.

Our turnover has gone through roof with the increased revenue. With a top ten finish we must be on course for £23 million or so from TV rights. Gate receipts must be in the £11 million region. Then there's sponsorship, advertising rights, merchandising, catering, additional revenue from the two cup runs and so on and so forth.

I simply refuse to believe that even with a huge hike in players salaries and associated costs that income isn't exceeding (by some way) operating costs into which will be factored paying off some of the overdraft, stadium costs and depreciation and interest of monies owed.

Don't forget one-off bonuses, like the cool million that was netted from an FA Cup tie at Old Trafford - plus TV money.

I agree though, next year income will massively exceed this year's expenditure. No doubt that won't have escaped the players' agents and the local Ferrari/Hummer dealerships etc etc etc.

It also means that the perentage on income that comes from gate money is less and less significant as TV deals and other income increases.
