I mean his ability to play at a decent level may have fallen off the cliff in the last 18 months but doubt it

Brighton still felt he was decent enough to play 20+ times for them last year. You’d be asking him to do a similar job a division down. He’d be useful I’m sure

I think the fact he’s only started 8 games (totalling 900 minutes in the league) since August last year is a good indicator he may not be good enough anymore

He’s 37 so it’s not surprising but I’m not sure he’d be much use at all to us

We’ve scored quite a few goals this season running in behind, not sure Murray would suit that

He’s a good player aerially but given we rarely cross the ball in other than set pieces, don’t see the purpose

Jesus. Three of our first choice back four, our most creative player*, and our top three strikers all injured. How is that even possible? Too many games and not enough depth to rotate? How's that circuit breaker plan coming along?

Neither are untried novices any more so this opportunity could be the making of one or both especially as it looks as though Gibson will be playing left-back for a while.

I would be inclined, if it is those 4, to go with Holmes at centre-back with Esteves at right-back and the left-footed McIntyre at left-back.

On the basis that Holmes isn't really a full-back ,my line-up would be one player only playing out of position and that player being McIntyre who I think might be a better option at left-back rather than the very right-footed Esteves.

not sure, but he hasn't even played that much due to his recent foot injury. Joao you could understand - tbh it looked likely the way he was playing against Brum - very lethargic. Swift was a tear I think, Gibson can't be through overplaying. Richards - yeah.

So might all be hammy's but possibly not all due to poor conditioning etc. ITs quite a common injury for a footballer anyway I suppose

I'd be tempted with Holmes, Morrison, McIntyre, Bristow tbh.

I was quite impressed by Esteves and fairly forgiving originally, but I don't think I've really see him make a genuine positive contribution for several appearances now. And he's clearly utterly clueless off the ball. You expect a young player to start a bit iffy and settle in. He's pretty much done the reverse, start ok and then get increasingly dodgy. What's his face the keeper from Everton all over again... although Esteves does at least look like he's playing the right sport and not just been bullied into doing PE and going in goal because no one else wants to.

And I don't like his hair. Or face. But there's no way that's affecting my judgement.

Gibson has a quad injury and is not expected to be involved until at least 16 Jan (Brentford home).

Note - I imagine it is his one of his quad muscles that’s injured rather than a damaged bike.

Don’t see it with most Championship sides. Many opponents seem to have 3 or 4 out tops (Luton appear to have just 1 casualty) and not half their first team crocked at the same time, many with hamstring problems. Perhaps it’s just bad luck but you have to wonder if the club could do something better somewhere.

VP is another manager who places a lot of emphasis on top levels of physical fitness and stamina, so maybe they've been overdoing the physical side of training, given the relentless match schedule.
