At the time, our ticket sales for the Bolton game represented the highest number of tickets for a club to have sold for a Wembley game (because they don't allocate as many to Cup Final teams of course)

That's nonsense, even after the Wembley capacity was reduced. What you have got confused with is the fact that our turnout at the 2001 play-off final was the highest that any club had managed for a game there at the time (beaten a couple of years later by Bristol City for - I think - an LDV final).

However, your general point about the number of people who will be interested in this game is entirely valid.

I remain convinced that they said, at the time, that we had taken the largest club crowd to a Wembley game. The reason cited was that for a P-O game the tickets are almost all given to the 2 clubs while for a Cup final they only used to get about 20- 30k each with the balance going to the FA, corporate sponsors etc. I know that we also took a record Millennium Stadium crowd - but that is a separate issue (still helps to prove the point though, that we will sell out in all probability).

What's going on? Are we really in the play-offs? Booked my home tickets with no fuss when I got home from the pub on Sunday night, and got through on the phone without having to wait to book the away game today. It's not like the days of queuing all the way around Elm Park, is it?

The long and short of it is people are really quite disillusioned by the whole prospect. If we'd made a last minute charge and got a place a la Preston then people would be clambering for the tickets. I just don't think people harbour much hope for them .

I think folks are aware we are in the playoffs.
Crowd will be absolute minimum of 21,000...and more likely 22,500-23,500.

It'll be a sell out. Why on earth you felt the need to say it'll be a minimum 21k I don't know.

Well, it may have been said of course, but it's still wrong. As a very obvious counter-example, Reading took more to the Simod Cup Final! Also the Wolves-Burnley Associate Members final nearly filled the stadium when there were still terraces, so however the tickets were split one of the clubs must have sold more that we did in 1995.

lacking in demand. In hindsight, I agree with you..my 'call' of '21000 minimum' is too low.
I am expecting either capacity, or very near to it.
It just MIGHT be one of those great nights !!

To be pedantic, it will be a home sell out. Whether there are sufficient away fans who make a Tuesday afternoon trip down the M6 to fill up their allocation is a different matter.

It was probably one of the easiest times I've brought a ticket this season. No queue, straight on and ordered, managed to get placed exactly where I wanted aswell.

It turns out I haven't paid for a ticket in my own name since the QPR game 3 years ago. It's all been freebies and other people's STs since then.

I'm going next Tues anyway and I'm sure I'll find away of getting a Wembley ticket if we get there.

Depends on the score of the first leg. If they are in with a chance they will be down in droves...

Burnley sold their 2,100 allocation on the first day of sales (Monday).
I doubt if any of those will NOT travel. The away end for next Tuesday is sold out
completely.
And as a matter of interest, although a handful of Burnley fans are complaining that we
have the option of 3,000 tickets for their place and they have only 2,100 for our place...
...most of them are honest enough to admit that our average home attendance (close to 20,000)
is far higher than the Burnley average. So why would we want to give them the whole South Stand,
as we do not have to...and you would think the advantage would be to house as many home
fans as possible.

The numbers are probably as well matched as is possible given the fact that the respective away ends are of different sizes !
Would it be fair to deprive some of our own fans of the chance to see a game whilst allowing more of their fans than are required to get tickets ?

Just got my away ticket, and we've only sold about 1,200 tickets.

Apparently it's tailed off for the home game as well, but I'd be amazed if we don't sell out. Any member card sales start tomorrow.
