Relegation in the German 2nd division looks exciting going into the last day

teams in 11th place downwards could all still be relegated and the final day fixture list has thrown up 12th Vs 17th & 14th Vs 15th

Les Herbiers from the French 3rd division play tonight v PSG in the Cup Final. They are 50/1 to win, may be worth a couple cheeky quid!

They can still get relegated from the 3rd division as they have 1 game to play and are 2 places above the relegation zone, and if they do will be in the same division as PSG reserves

They have won 7 games in the cup so far compared to 9 all season in the league

Watching Hamburg v Borussia Moenchengladbach on BT Sport, and noticed the Hamburg manager is called Christian Titz.

I couldn't help my inner Beavis saying "Titz...huh..huh..huh"

It would be a fine name for a niche interest gentlemen's periodical too.

With Hamburg on the brink of being relegated for the first time ever "It's all gone titz-up at Hamburg" would make a perfect headline too.

Went to Sampdoria v Napoli on Sunday as previously documented in this thread. Pretty good game on the whole, despite the waterlogged left wing causing a few comedy moments of the ball stopping and the player trying to dribble with it running beyond it without the ball. Napoli a real threat throughout, won 2-0 and probably should have won by more, a really nice opener from Milik.

The game was stopped midway through the first half and a club official (I think) had to plead with the Sampdoria ultras to calm the chanting down a bit, as they were doing a lot of anti Neapolitan chanting (something to do with accusing the Napoli fans of having cholera we've later discovered). The noise and ferocity of the chanting from the Sampdoria fans was impressive though - the two Napoli goals only served to increase both measures rather than decrease it as would be the norm here. The Sampdoria fans also seem to hate Pepe Reina (Napoli keeper) for some reason, although we've not been able to find out why.

Standing on seats, standing in the aisles, drinking in the stands, smoking in the stands, notable racism - all that in addition to massive flags and regular flares going off in the stands, I'd say we got a pretty good experience of Italian football (much more raw than my only other Italian game at the San Siro).

Sounds fantastic. Did you feel at all intimidated being (presumably) English? Did anyone notice you were and 'welcome' you, so to speak?

Not really no (to feeling intimidated). We were sat in a bar before the game having a chat with the locals and it was all fine, they were interested in us but never anything more than that. We certainly didn't hide who were were at any point. The main ultras were at the other end of the ground, and it wasn't possible to buy tickets in that area. The away fans were tucked in up in a corner on the top tier on the side to our right so we weren't anywhere near them either.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect Italian fans to concerned in the slightest about English people going to a game.

I found the stadium to be one that looks better at a distance. Once inside you realise just how poorly maintained Italian stadiums are. Being a steward in an upper tier at an Italian ground is possibly the world's easiest job too. All you have to do is learn on a wall and watch the game.

Genoa is a fantastic place but the ground has aged very poorly. Would love to catch the Samp Genoa derby.

Apparently they blame Heysel on the English and associate all English fans with that.
