Hob-Nob used to be fun but, with people like you and others that put forward nothing to discussions such as the fox with his (in his own head) cryptic one or two liners and some who don't read posts but jump in with views on what they thought was posted rather than taking in what was actually posted, it has become dull and ridiculously over-aggressive in tone.

I came on to Hob -Nob about 15 years ago because I occasionally got information from the club which I thought might be of interest to fellow fans and worth sharing but nobody now seems to know anything or hear anything of interest and the level of debate has dropped to an all-time low.
People used to debate vigorously and at times abusively but seemingly without malice however now not only has it become dull but it is too often malicious and as one who is far from easily offended I find it now uninformative and don't really wish to share my views to a group (with a few exceptions) have nothing to say.

Frankly, that's a load of old bollocks. It's a far less abusive and malicious place than it was 10-15 years ago. You've just developed a bigger ego and a thinner skin with age.

Thing is Vic, no offence, but you used to get called out on the rubbish you posted back then, and the same thing is happening today. And there's been lots of it on this thread.

For my sins I listen to Talksport on the way to and from work, and the amount of callers that come on and say they don't get to so many games nowadays because they can't afford it is phenomenal.

The FA and the Premier League are so rich and powerful in this country, yet between them they have allowed football to be taken away from so many people. It's ironic that the FA are so disturbed about the misdistribution of wealth amongst the FIFA corrupt, yet the misdistribution of Wealth under their own noses seems to trundle on and on.

The die-hard football fan (of any class) probably doesn't give as much of a toss about bribes for World Cups as some people in our country's governing bodies think they do. The only slight benefit to what has happened with wealth in the modern English game is that there are smaller, more affordable amateur teams to watch, charging £10 a game, or £100 a season ticket. They'll experience a small upturn but nothing considerable.

Kes - when I said about an Adidas kit, that was because Adidas are Man Utd's kit supplier. You can buy cheaper but it was a good comparison of the two prices. -£500 for a grass roots club and +£100m for a Premier League club.

Money does filter through from partners of the FA and the Premier League and there's often little things floating around that you can apply for. The grass roots effect is just one example though of why there are far bigger things under our own noses that need fixing before we squeal like pigs about FIFA.

Cost of tickets to watch matches is a massive issue for the lower paid portions of our society wanting to watch football at the top level, but it's a symptom of the capitalistic nature of our economy rather than any corruption.

Low Supply, high demand = high costs.

If what Warner claims is true (and lets be honest, he doesn't have a great track record of accurate information) then there is even more reason to be delighted that the house of cards is falling. I wouldn't be surprised if other nations have similar stories to tell of FIFA. As I said earlier on the thread, Brazil's government were forced to pass laws concerning the sale of beer in grounds (amoung other things) before 2014. The corruption and power grabbing goes much deeper than just the organisation of football tournaments.

The current system remains based on the old traditions where most involved gave up their own time to run football, and hand outs such as FA Cup final tickets were seen as a reward to those volunteers. Clearly time has passed and monies are available to pay officials, but the traditions of gifts as Dyke showed with his watch remain. So it does need a complete update from FIFA, to UEFA to the FA.

Do you believe Blatter's reason for leaving?
just a few days he won a vote in which he knew a lot of national FA's had not voted for him, he just resigns, hardly leaving the legacy he sought.
