08 Oct 2019 12:28Yep agree with Hound as usual, his record is only blotted by QPR - basketcase, and a lack of direct experience of what the Chump is like.Hound wrote:it would actually be my main concern with him that he is in effect too good - and doesn't actually know the champ very wellgenome wrote:Mark Hughes has only ever managed in the Premier League, am I right? Some of our fans are hilarious.
Stroke of luck that all the loanees worked out so well? Really?? That is pretty much on par with the person who argued that Gomes had nothing to do with the loan signings and pretty much implied that the loanees would have ensured we survived regardless of any input from a coach/manager. It's also at odds with comments from some of the players, like Rinomhota who have praised the contribution that Gomes made (makes) and said how the players feel more comfortable and enjoy the style of football that he encourages (no, not losing, before one of the negative types on here says it!).Lower West wrote:Arguably a stroke of luck that all the loanees worked out so well. 08 Oct 2019 15:18Players say nice things about every manager. They loved Stam. If he's so good and they enjoy it so much they should try doing a bit of defending and win a game.RoyalBlue wrote:Stroke of luck that all the loanees worked out so well? Really?? I believe he gave the players a lift and got them engaged and wanting to do well for the club in the same way that he got the fans back on side and very supportive in the second half of last season.

08 Oct 2019 17:13His method was to come in and wield the axe, probably to shit the players up and make them work harder, and eliminate the bad apples. Obviously that worked temporarily and probably kept us up, but if you don't all of shift them on in the summer/keep alienating the fringe squad members, I think that method is going to bite you on the arse sooner rather than later.Snowflake Royal wrote:For all his much lauded great man management, Gomes has managed to treat Baldock, Gunter, McCleary, Mannone and Kelly quite badly.
He's openly criticised Kelly, Loader, Puscas and Joao in the press as well from what I remember.
Plus dropping Richards, Rinomhota and Meite (multiple times) for no good reason.
It's hard to call that good man management and motivation. I can't think of another manager you could list that many players for, including ones who been in post years.

Being ruthless is accepted, if it works. This season, it's not working.

It goes on and on. Time to keep the music going a bit longer to give players more time to "gel".
I’d be happy with both of these tbfJohn Smith wrote:I shall no longer be entertaining speculation around Hughes as it won't happen.genome wrote:What?Maneki Neko wrote:

I said in a different thread about how Wycombe Wanderers being 2nd in League 1 should mean Ainsworth is given the job as I think he would be able to do it on a budget. I wouldn't be adverse to Hughton either as he's a Championship specialist and given enough money in the summer we could push for promotion next season - as every season is different at this level.
Might as well keep gomes on that recordWycombe ended the 2018–19 season in 17th-place, three points clear of the relegation zone
Can you confirm what he has done this season? I’d be interested to know if it was exactly the same as last season.krapmle wrote:Might as well keep gomes on that recordWycombe ended the 2018–19 season in 17th-place, three points clear of the relegation zone

08 Oct 2019 20:05No it's because we keep signing shit managers with no Championship, or even managerial, pedigree. The Royal Forester wrote:I'm fed up with all this chopping and changing. why do we sack a manager every year? He is doing enough to keep his job for the time being. But the circumstances are completely different.Hendo wrote:Can you confirm what he has done this season?
