Personally though I think 2022 should just be awarded to Australia, which makes a whole more sense than giving to a desert that's half the size of Wales.

FIFA apparently paid the FAI 5 million euros to not take legal action in the wake of Thierry Henry's hanball, that cost Ireland a WC place.

Shirley.
And remember that The Sun wrote an open letter to FIFA apologising for Jennings' 'muck raking' of 'old' evidence and grovelling not to let the Panorama film put them off voting for England 2018. The BBC were also accused of being unpatriotic when they showed it just before the vote. Strange how those making those criticisms don't see so angry now.......Sutekh wrote:And a lot of this was highlighted on the BBC's Panorama 4 years ago....

Looking forward to another Andrew Jennings' Panorama in a few months when the dust starts settling.

One of the leading people involved in England's world cup bid said on newsnight about a week ago that, contrary to popular belief, FIFA had nothing to do with England not winning and that we lost out as there is an issue between the PL and the FA that was unresolved and while it is unresolved it would not be possible for us to host it, hence we were not really considered in the end.multisync1830 wrote:Meanwhile, UK Culture Secretary John Whittingdale has said England is ready to host the 2022 World Cup if Qatar is stripped of the tournament.
Love the claim that Morocco actually won the 201 vote but it was rigged / miscounted!! That would just be the icing on the cake!Kitsondinho wrote:Further gifts from FIFA to you all....

I suspect if there hadn't been a problem like that we still wouldn't have won it given our popularity with FIFA. I'm not overly happy with claims that FIFA's corruption is why we didn't win the world cup hosting rights. Why other countries did, yeah, I buy that.Winston Smith wrote:One of the leading people involved in England's world cup bid said on newsnight about a week ago that, contrary to popular belief, FIFA had nothing to do with England not winning and that we lost out as there is an issue between the PL and the FA that was unresolved and while it is unresolved it would not be possible for us to host it, hence we were not really considered in the end.multisync1830 wrote:Meanwhile, UK Culture Secretary John Whittingdale has said England is ready to host the 2022 World Cup if Qatar is stripped of the tournament.
He didnt say what the issue was but if it remains then you assume we still cant host it.
