Reading Town Torment Shrivenham!! (14th Feb)

Reading Town made the perfect start when Gianluca Ricco neatly tucked it underneath the Shrivenham keeper in the 2nd minute to make it 1-0. Just 3 minutes later and the Town doubled their lead when Aaron Parfitt stroked it past the keeper from an acute angle. The Reading boys were the dominant force and this saw Graham Lewis have two efforts. One of which what was well saved by Luke Alford and the other which went marginally wide of the right hand post. Reading Town’s pressure paid off when a delightful ball was put into the box by David Mills and Graham Lewis latched onto it to header it past the Shrivy No1. James Clark then found himself on the score sheet in the 23rd minute after his half volley looked to be going over but it suddenly dipped at the last minute which saw the ball strike the back of the net to make it 4-0. Shrivenham had their first really chance to score in the 30th minute when a shot was cleverly cleared off the line by Will Bratt. Soon afterwards another effort from Shrivy was cleared off the line but this it was Sam Flegg who made shore the Town kept a clean sheet. The Town kept on piling on the pressure and the saw an effort from Saurez which went just past the left hand post in the 37th minute. Just 5 minutes remaining of the 1st half and Luke Alford made another good save to keep it 4-0 going into half time.

Shrivenham got off to a slightly better start they did in the 1st half and saw them have an attempt on goal which Chris Grace smartly saved diving to his left. Not long afterwards James Clark made it five when he scored from close range. In the 48th minute Shrivenham were trying to pull a goal back but their effort whizzed passed the post. Reading Town were dangerous whenever they had the ball and this saw Danny Williamson have a crack at goal from wide on right which saw the keeper tip it over the bar. Things just got even better when Aaron Parfitt tapped it to make 6-0. Reading Town just kept causing problems and this saw Aaron Parfitt completed his hattrick when he slotted the ball into bottom left hand corner to make it 7-0. James made sure he wasn’t going to miss out on the hattrick and calmly put it past the keeper to make it 8-0.

Hungerford lost 3-4 in extra time @ Lowestoft - had 2 men red-carded but led 2-0 and 3-1 - missed a 2 on 1 with the keeper on 90 mins when 3-2 up promptly conceded the equalizer!

Pie-eater extraordinaire M.Meaker and his Bitton team (nr Bath) lost at home to Glossop.

Closest 'local' team left in the Quarters now are Chalfont St Peter, who beat Christchurch 4-0 and are away @ Needham Market on the 28th Feb - we're at home to Forest that day, else I might have thought about going!

W&E slaughtered a pretty hapless North Leigh yesterday - 4-0 was the final score but it really could have been double that. It reminded me of a game between Premier League and League 2 teams, when they both play to their assumed status.

Martin Williams wasn't playing as he was suspended as were 2 other normal starters yet they still totally outclassed North Leigh.

2nd on GD but 2 games in hand.

Yes I am local - a friend who goes to every match has been nagging me for years to come down and this season I decided I would give it a go - the Willo factor was only a small one and he's only actually played in 1 of the games my son and I have been to (the AFC Totton one).

We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far and will see as many home games as possible this season.

What about the state of the pitch on Saturday? What the hell was Scott thinking of? Ian Gould (groundsman for those who don't know) apparently resigned after finding out they'd trained on the pitch on Thursday (as they had royally fcuked up the centre of what is normally a superbly maintained pitch) and was only coaxed back with some difficulty. Even after Saturday's game Gould was still absolutely fuming and letting everyone within earshot know about it!

Another 3-0 victory for the Beavers, even Hodgey managed to get on the scoresheet, Devonshire is working the oracle again this season, maybe this season they could win the play off final, dreams...

I heard that we are getting floodlights for the training pitch behind the far goal so hopefully this sort of thing wont happen again! A real shame to see such a good pitch ruined! No wonder he was angry! It'll be quality to win the league this season the away game at Truro is game of the season!

How on earth are they expected to survive if they go up? Cut there losses and keep a side that can stay in that league but chasing for promotion is foolish until the money worries are solved. Its best in the long term as just look at Lewes going up too early!


Windsor won 2-1 at Winchester but to be frank it could of been 5 or 6 to go to the top of the league with games in hand.
