They don't consider themselves a British club and neither do anyone who knows about what the majority of their support stand for, so not really.sandman wrote:
Lol at Celtic all you want but this is bad for British football.

Plus, if they performance the the way they did last season - and they're lucky they don't have to go through the qualifying rounds as well - it won't be long before Rangers are also out of the competition.
There have been some great players and managers who have come from Scotland (not just the Old Firm) and it's a shame to see that league decline even from the standards that I have seen since I started watching football in 93.

Disgusting club, vile fans - Rod Stewart et al just fvck off
Totally disagree. They dont view themselves as a British Club, so why should any British person feel it be a shame that they are out of the CL? Now they will enter the Europa League at the Play-off stage and thats about their level. Rangers will be bobbins in the CL proper but they'll be their on merit having won the title. Dark days for Scottish football are though unfortunately ahead, and not just for the OF.sandman wrote:Whatever you think of them as a club I think it's a shame for British football that they won't be in the CL. As Celtics UEFA Cup final appearance was more than 5 years ago it no longer affects Scotlands UEFA CoEfficient so rangers place in the CL group stage has Hee Haw to do with celtics UEFA cup final appearancesandman wrote:They won't be there on merit they'll be there by the grace of UEFA's terrible seeding and a UEFA cup final appearance by their biggest rivals the best part of a decade ago. How does the standard of the SPL deserve a team that qualifies automatically?
Because the coefficients work the same for everyone and as bad as the Scottish league is, there are many worse leagues?sandman wrote:They won't be there on merit they'll be there by the grace of UEFA's terrible seeding and a UEFA cup final appearance by their biggest rivals the best part of a decade ago. Are they based in the British Isles? Would people outside of the British Isles recognise them as Scottish/British? If the answers to those questions is yes then whether you, they or anyone else like it they ARE a British Club and an illustrious one at that.weybridgewanderer wrote:British Clubs wouldn't burn Union Jacks
Yeah right. Try having that conversation in Wales or some parts of Northern Ireland.weybridgewanderer wrote:British Clubs wouldn't burn Union Jacks

100 people amongst a total of near 120,000 fans. I'm sure the resident Manchester clubs have a higher percentage of troublemakers. Reckon the Mancunian residents want to forget about clubs City and United???sandman wrote:Are they based in the British Isles? I had forgotten that Rangers had reached the UEFA cup final and I'm sure the people of Manchester would like to forget it as well.
