Bale caused Inter's right back problems all night. In the first half he beat him easily on a number of occasions and made it look effortless. As with many games the second-half became more stretched and Bale used his speed and skill to good advantage. Inter could not handle his pace when he had space to run into.
He's a terrific talent.

My point is Inter would not have let a player run half the length of the pitch twice if they were 1-0 up or drawing. Theyd have fouled him long before he got a chance to shoot. Its alot easier to score when the opposition have taken the foot off the pedal. Good as they were, 1 goal that counts > a meaningless hattrick.

Bale had the option of knock and run, and as Maicon was pushing forward the only defender capable of matching him for pace was out of the equation. It's not surprising he got so much joy playing against Rafa's tactics.

I can pretty much guarentee that a year ago Bale would not have had that level of freedom.
