I'd take £3m for Mills, though I'd hope for £4m.

He's not lived up to his price tag and that is pretty good money for a player who isn't a great deal better than the other options. We have Pearce and presumably this would allow us to sign both Ledge & Khiz permanently. Morrison as back up with Harte, Ivar and or Gunnarsson as emergency cover on pay as you play deals.

Oh and LOLS on Bolton for him to replace Cahill.

Quite obviously not, or Cahill wouldn't be leaving them for one, according to the NotW.

He hasn't lived up to the £1m we paid for him? Of course he has. You don't get much for that amount these days.

You get plenty if you know where to look. And he's been extremely up and down this season. Undeniable quality, but like Bikey a temperament and brain that's unlikely to see him fulfill it on a consistent basis.

I make no apologies for liking Mills, a lot - yes he has a bit of passion - but that's what you need both in a captain and in a centre back - he's a young guy still and if we let him go, I for one, will be very cross.

No we didn't. It would rise to £2m based on apperances and if we won promotion to the Premiership.

Centre back isn't a position we should look to be selling. Ivar is out of contract in the summer, Kish will go back to Blackburn, so then we have three centre backs. Mills is a very raw captain, but he wears is heart on his sleeve and enjoys playing and being at Reading. He's only 24 and has loads more time to develop.

Mills is a talented centre back, prone to the odd error, but tell me a entre back that isnt....if the rumours are true then Coyle obviously sees something in him to make him a worthwhile replacement for Cahill..and Coyle has a growing reputation ..in Mills defence he's also had to play with 5 or 6 different partners this year, at centre of defence

...it will be a sign of the club's intentions if they sell him, but no doubt if they do to cash in, they will say "we couldnt stand in his way blah blah blah"..........he's on a contract bugs, so yes you can!

Bolton paid "an initial £2.3m with a further £1.5m based on appearances" for David Wheater, who has Premier League experience (ignoring for a second Mills' brace of appearances for Manchester City) and been in the England squad a few times. There's no way Mills will fetch more than that, and I'd expect a few hundred thousand less. As for the likelihood of this rumour - Wheater was signed largely as cover with an eye to the future, so I'd expect Coyle to go after someone a little more established when the time comes to replace Cahill. Money may dictate otherwise, though, and Mills' ball skills would be a decent complement to Zat Knight's... more traditional style, so it's possible.
