The majority of both Orient and West Ham fans no longer live in London proper anyway. It's less the location rather the number of cut price tickets West Ham will be touting around Essex and the rest of their hinterland of fans that could damage Orient.

They don't need a new stadium, and they don't need 40 million or more debt, especially if they ply their trade in the Championship.

If it West Ham then the new stadium will only be 1 mile closer to Orient. Yes it's a bigger stadium but I'm not sure there are that many people in that part of London who go to Orient because they can't get in to Upton Park.

This is a really interesting and complex argument.

When Charlton were good, they used to run subsidised coaches from north Kent. Paul Scally (Gillingham chairman) was outspoken about Charlton muscling in on their patch and using their Premier League wads of cash to steal potential Gills supporters.

A much bigger stadium, much closer to Orient will give West Ham huge scope to discount and steal potential Orient fans. In my opinion.
