marcusopp With a bit of cash in McD's wallet now he's got the opprrtunity to strengthen the squad.
I reckon we could do with a centre back (as cover for Gorkks and Pearce), a centre mid (our youth players aren't quite ready and he doesn't fancy howard) and a forward (we've got ok forwards, but not a 20 goal/ season player).
What do you reckon?

Completely agree. Pompey have to sell, I would love to see Norris come in.

Reading manager Brian McDermott is refusing to rule out moves for Jason Roberts, Billy Sharp and Brentford defender Karleigh Osborne.

The Royals are reportedly keen to bolster their strike force and have been linked with Blackburn's out-of-favour Roberts and Doncaster's in-demand Sharp.

McDermott knows all about Roberts' ability and believes his experience could be invaluable as Reading look to win promotion to the Premier League.

The 50-year-old is not looking to recruit just anyone following their takeover by new owners Thames Sports Investment, stating he will only bring in players who will enhance his options.

With McDermott allowing Sean Morrison to join Huddersfield on loan, a move for Osborne could be finalised in the next 48 hours.

Cover

"With Sean going out on loan, there is a possibility that we might bring in someone like Karleigh Osborne to cover," McDermott told getreading.

"Jason Roberts is a player I know well, a good player and he has experience. But he's not our player, he's at Blackburn. And Billy Sharp is a Doncaster player.

"We have to maintain the team dynamic here, which has been a huge reason behind our success, and I will only bring in players who enhance the group as players and people."

Focus

McDermott has told his players to concentrate on getting back to winning ways after a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Hull City last Saturday in the wake of their takeover.

"I need to focus absolutely on the football now," he continued. "There have been a lot of things that have gone on over the last few days.

"I feel like I've been pulled around a bit in the last few weeks. We missed an opportunity against Hull and now we really have to get back to business against Bristol City. I felt there was a strange atmosphere last Saturday."

Remember this day! I called it. 3 signings were on there way, only that they weren't the names put to me, but our interest in them is very real.

Sure enough the 3rd hasn't signed yet but we are actively working on a central defender with Bongani set to return to Spurs.

So apart from the fact you said we'd sign three, they were completely different players, completely different levels of spending and from different levels of the game, you were absolute right.
