FridaysGhost Roberts has been a waste of space for a year and is now far too old and far to injured. He should not have been given a squad number. He says all the right things whilst sucking £20,000 a week out of RFC when he knows it is just his pension. Of course, we can't get rid of him - that would suddenly become racism!

 How do people like you function in life when you're that thick?

Your smiley face was incorrect , it should have been a mirror - and then you could discuss 'thick' with your own reflection. I think the mirror might win the argument.

What if it turned out to be a house of mirrors in which you spotted someone looking in the mirror....discuss.

Roberts had a good few months and helped us up from the championship. He was - in fairness - a lot like an impact loan signing, and he did the job we required him to do, at probably the latest in his career he could do it. Now, he is almost 2 years older, was ineffectual in the premiership before becoming injured.

On a high earning contract, and probably no where near the player we saw (even then, i still thought he was a bit past it for anything more than an over achieving semi-decent championship side) and i think if we were to let go now, we would just be saving a large chunk of wages for a player who i doubt could do anything worth noting.

We sucked with him and we sucked without him last year, but our attacks had a bit more purpose when he was in the team. If he can get himself fit before January then he deserves a chance. Fitness based talents weren't why he was effective. He wasn't fast and he wasn't particularly strong. What he brought to the team was an intelligence in the way the game was played, and an eye for a clever ball.

Seems people on here want slave contracts.... Or worse Zero-contracts....
Fotballers are overpaid, but you do need them in a team. Why should not Robert not take his wage? Is he a saint?
As long as players have the right attitude towards Reading as a team, I am happy for them to take their pay. (What sort of car would Kebe drive if he was on a zero-contract??)

Another point to remember about Roberts is that when he signed for Reading one of the things he said attracted him here was that we played 4-4-2 and he didn't really like playing upfront on his own.

To think he's going to come back and contribute is just daft in my opinion. He's a wasted wage unfortunately.

To be fair i think 4-4-2 is way forward in this league
