Is there any evidence that Blatter is involved in any wrongdoings at all? Everyone seems to want to take him down. What is it that he is alleged to have done? Where is the evidence?

In England Blatter has been held up as the person responsible for all the ills of world football and Platini is not far behind in the unpopularity stakes.
Classic Little Englander/Johnny Foreigner stuff where Blatter has had worse Press than Mugabe or any of the other corrupted African leaders-as far as I know Blatter hasn't been responsible for any deaths.
Presumably Brits will want those failures in negotiation, Prince William, Cameron and Beckham to now run FIFA because they are jolly good chaps who can be trusted...not like.............I can't type his name again as he is so evil (allegedly)

Whether you like Sepp or not, whether he's guilty of anything or not, the point is that FIFA is in a complete mess and has only got worse on his watch. Therefore him continuing would be untenable in any other professional business. But then this is FIFA and it is in a complete mess...

What we really need is the other FAs and organisations to also boycott FIFA and FIFA tournaments until such time as full accountability and visibility to all operations is seen to be in place.

The Russian and Qatari world cup final assignments should also both be suspended pending further investigations.

So they are basically saying every FIFA and CONCACAF tournament since Atlanta is tainted with this. And obviously can't comment on other regions as not in their remit so who knows if Euros etc affected.

Lets face it, this isn't the first time either is it. Under his watch Tony Warner finally got done having been taking bribes and match fees for himself for goodness knows how long. Blatter did nothing about that or to increase transparency / fraud security at that point.

It's pretty obvious he's trying to stay in power until he dies so he can suppress what's been going on until it can't affect him. Looking good for that to fail.

It's one of the most frustrating things on the periphery of my life that despite everyone on the planet except for Victor Meldrew knows that Blatter is a disgusting corrupt slime ball and he has been allowed to get away with it for decades.

I liken him to Lance Armstrong, Jimmy Savile etc. but his misdeeds are far more common knowledge and accepted without question than the others.

I said nothing about Blatter not being corrupt-I was following Zammo's point that this man (mainly because we have failed to get any more World Cups) is seen here as the devil incarnate which is regrettably a typically British trait, i.e. any German or Frenchman is untrustworthy and hates the English.
This is part of a much wider issue of where we stand in the world-foreigners are not always wrong about everything and Brits always right.

If you were to be wider read I would ask you what all the other countries feel about FIFA and about Blatter in particular but as you are not so widely read I'll refrain and wait to see if these people are found to be corrupt (people on here want to hang them already with a lynch mob mentality).
Incidentally those that criticise FIFA and suggest that we break away (which was mooted after the failure to get the world cup for 2018 and 2022) can't really believe that our own FA is any better?

VM are really suggesting that the FA is as bad as FIFA. As for the rest of the world, we are not the only ones who dislike Blatter. He has been booed at enough stadia around the world in the last 4/5 years to show this. Yes, there are probably the same number of countries where he is popular and liked, but to suggest that this is a UK witch hunt is off the mark. The US were VERY pissed off about missing out on the World Cup, which is probably what set this all in motion.

Handed a £342 million ticketing and hospitality contract in 2007 to a company in which his nephew had/has a minority stake.

In 2002, Blatter was accused of paying a FIFA referee $25,000 and promising him $25,000 more, in return for information on a Somali soccer official, Farah Addo – who had himself accused Blatter of bribery in his first election bid.

Blatter didn’t deny the payments but explained them by saying: ‘He said to me with tears in his eyes that he was a poor devil and had nothing left. ‘So I gave him $25,000 of my own money. I’m too good a person…’

In light of the allegations 're: every competition for the last two decades being corrupt as oxf*rd it really puts into perspective the fact Germany, France etc haven't fussed as much as the English fa. They've hosted the world cup and Their officials have benefitted. allegedly.
