Depends on the relative depths of weakness (vs opposition strengths), capacity to correct them, and ability to not create new ones.
We're not a great team underperforming - our fragilities run deep and will take more than online platitudes, kneejerk sackings and wishful thinking to correct.

At some stage, if this form continues and we're in the bottom three and under serious threat approaching the end of the season, the club will sack him regardless of what the fans are saying... I agree the problems at the club run far deeper than the manager but if you're staring down the barrel sometimes you have to take the most readily available option and try and use the typical boost of results to get you out of trouble.
Take last season for instance.
