Lane is just bereft of either talent or confidence I’m not sure which.

Defender started off two yards behind him. Paddy was sunbathing while he decided when he should get a shot away. Pace of this game is similar to the testimonials that they used to hold.

Been saying it all season (not exactly a genius insight on my part) that Ploddy Lame has looked like a competition winner.

However, we bought him.

I’m just a supporter, not a professional footballer, and I’ve been told that because I haven’t played the game at the highest level, my opinion isn’t valid.

So does anyone have any insight into what attracted our “experts” to sign him?

I can’t see any:

Athleticism
Pace
Skill
Strength
Tackling ability
Heading ability
Clinical finishing
Football intelligence

So other than a cocky attitude and a big mouth when he finally finishes one of the numerous sitters presented to him this season…

What is it I’m missing?

We could legitimately have already won our last point of the season

Yes, really don’t get what Noel saw in him. Think he got talked up by Pompey fans as I recall but just not at it in games for Reading. Perhaps it’s a management issue but then he didn’t do it under Noel either really. Seems to work hard generally but keeps missing everything.

I have got the Rotherham commentary.
For a free kick just now we had all 11 back n our box prompting the observation by the commentator "that's what he used to do at Wigan.
They haven't said much about his time at Rotherham.

BTW regarding the green shirts I do feel that teams should wear the normal home kit whenever they can-it is our recognised colours and there is no reason why we can't wear them today unless they have faded in the wash and become even more insipid than usual.

As for the game , what a borefest (again) so far -will the manager make 2 subs on 60 minutes or , as he has done recently ,on 70 minutes.
Also what happened to the Pereira injury break ?-we didn't have one in the first half.
Are the players no longer playing to the instructions of our soon-to-be ex-manager?

I would love the staff that recruited him to actually tell us what they saw in him. He actually looks so far out of his depth he doesn't know what to do on the pitch. When I see players like him I always think to Souness at Southampton and him signing that player based on video clips......
