Don't let it happen again Reading...I know of plenty of loyal fans who have had to cancel there season ticket this year due to cost and not being able to afford it and when they tried to get tickets through the proper channels for the man u game weren't able to...

Well done that fan who wrote into the EP and pointed out the EP were rewarding a 'fan' who showed great loyalty to the club by not bothering to attend a single game over the past 15 years with a ticket plenty of more deserving fans were unable to obtain for neither love nor money.

Did they "offer him" a place in hospitality - or allow hime (or someone else) to pay for a place in hospitality? I'd imagine that the most likely was that a box holder invited him into their box as a guest after seeing this in the rag.

For roughly 8 years when Reading were at their all time low at Elm Park I was a season ticket holder. Come rain, hail, loss after loss trust me Elm Park was not a joyous place to be. Midweek reserve games. You name it I was there. Crowds averaged between 1,500 and 3,000 for normal league games. You could have had a round of cards with everyone at the reserve games. So whenever I am in Reading (now based in Australia) which is every few years I try to be there at a weekend and try and get to a game. The whole time Reading were in the premier league I was in the UK for 16 hours on my way to Hungary. It happened to be the day we played Utd at home. This is the story (true) I told the club and they did not understand my slight consternation at their reaction - hence the call to the evening post. I hired a car from Heathrow, drove to the game, drove back to Heathrow and flew back to Aus. I cried at seeing where we had got to from where we had been. So apologies if this meant someone else did not get a ticket - but I did not feel I was really doing anyone an injustice.

Have you been to any Reading games since?

I don't have a problem with you wanting to go to the game and using whatever means necessary to get a ticket, I have an issue with the fact that you were able to do this while other, possibly more deserving fans were unable to get a ticket to a sell out game.

I'd hope most true fans would be happier with an ex season ticker holder from Elm Park getting a ticket than the thousands who bought half season tickets in January 2006 just to get a PL season ticket the following year. You would have to be desperate to contact the Post so I think that proves a point. If you need a ticket for the FA Cup final do feel free to post on here in May!
