Hospitality Area In The East Stand

As I have already pointed out elsewhere, you really have nothing to be concerned about. We'll get relegated next season and all these plans will be shelved.

East Stand is being done next season so plans will be implemented before our fate is known....

As I understand it, the East Stand extension will take place over the summer and during the season, so there may be access/exit problems to the stand but there will be no seat disruption.

Then when the stand is extended they will have the opportunity to move people while they build the access for the corporate hospitality either during the 2008 summer break or during the 2008/9 season.

the thing that worries me is when there are two tiers the songs get out of time. this is what happened at loads of away games this season, chelsea and man city spring to mind

they can't sing in time or the same song as it now, so it can't make things worse.

Who gives a s**t, can't moan about a ticket price rise so what next, oh a ground which will be a credit to the club and its fans (less the few who will not renew because the club has sold out to the corps).
My main concern is that in the boxes in the west you get away fans vocally supporting and this cause a bit of friction there with the 'softies' in the west lower, WTF will happen when away fans are in a box in the east? Or is that why they want to remove the 'animals' from Y21 to Y24, thus making it a safer and better place for the ladies and gents in Y25 and Y26!

What second tier? It'll remain a one tier stand!

And for those whining because they think they wont be able to sing anymore just because you have a few suits and boots behind you - need a tissue?
Why on earth would you have to be quiet? You will be sat in the average Joe type seats like the majority of the East Stand and you will be more than entitled to sing and chant until your little heart is content.

Unbelievable just how many are whining at the club having an opportunity like this to move forwards and leave the 'little old Reading' tag behind.

I think the actual plan is to reward those persons sitting in those seats, most of whom have been season ticket holders since the stadium opened with a nice shiny box to sit in before the game, all for the same season ticket price. We may have to stump up for our own Gourmet Burger though!

Seriously, as one of those affected I am a little miffed, but understand that this is progress. I think that the best solution it just to move everybody back 10 rows rather than sticking those 10 rows immediately into the gods. I realise that that will not suit everyone, and for those not happy they should have first refusal on where they want to move to after everyone else has renewed.

You're all assuming that this "hospitality area" will take the form of Executive Boxes like those on the West side.

But as I understand them this is actually an area for East Stand ST holders (i.e. home fans only) to pay a little extra and have access to a nicer area than the concourses (e.g. bar area, carpet on the floor, view of the pitch etc).

But definitely not Exec boxes where potentially away fans might be.

I agree with Star that it is far too premature to get wound up about whether or not specific seats may or may not be available way into the future. At this time Reading Borough Council have not even made a decision on the planning application and details such as this have not been decided on or agreed. Whoever issued flyers was just stating a personal view which is not factual at this stage. Illustrative drawings produced to enhance the planning application have been taken far too literally by some fans. Many planning applications often have detailed changes made by agreement with the local authority after approval in principle is given. RFC have committed to consulting any fan who may be disrupted during the expansion process and it clearly makes sense to wait until there really is a need for any detailed consultations to take place. Chill out folks!

I'd be interested in knowing how much the club believe they make per square foot of corporate hospitality compared to that they get from each square foot of ordinary supporter seating.

I wonder whether the difference in income per square foot is as much as people might assume.

I hate to say it but in my opinion STAR reeks of I am in it for the kudos.

Now I know that not everyone that is involved with STAR is in it for themselves it certainly seems like it.

Why place the hospitality in the stand that due to demand was the first one in the ground that had inforced reserved seating. Putting it in the south stand would make more sence. they could then connect the two areas thus also allowing access via the main hospitality enterance.

On the matter of planning permission I cant see it being improved without arrangements for matchday parking being improved.

And now you're re-writing history. The West (Upper and Lower) have always been reserved, and the North was reserved before the East was. In fact, IIRC, the North was only made unreserved when the East was made reserved, because the club wanted to encourage the singers to move to the North stand.
