Why do you support Reading Town FC?
Is it because you get to play the drums?

I have supported the Town for a year an half as my mate told me about them.

I love supporting the Town as it's cheap, easy to get and even in walking distance from my house, the players love the support and you can talk to them, keeps me busy by videoing games and taking pics, you can stand at grounds, and plenty more

Why do certain posters always go on about how bad it is at the Mad Stad. Do they actually go anywhere else!. We went to nearly every away game in last two seasons and the only ground where they made consistent noise almost from start to finish of the game was at Sunderland - otherwise for great parts of the game the home support was no better than it is for most of our home games. It seems to me that most fans were only really vocal if their team was doing well and then only for short periods - usually when they were scoring.

I am talking about the atmosphere at home not away. Its a terrible atmosphere at Reading FC they only sing when they are winning or the ref makes a mistake.

..and so was East End Lady as far as I can see. Even then, the last time I went to Sunderland, they kept singing right up until the point we scored 2 goals in 3 minutes and they then all oxf*rd off home 10 minutes from time. Of all the big grounds that i've been to in the last 4 seasons famed for having great atmospheres, they've all failed dismally to live up to the hype. Bramall Lane is the only ground I've been to that consistantly has a significantly better atmosphere than the Mad Stad.

in our two years in the prem i only went to 4 away grounds

villa, fulham, manu, and newcastle- a pretty good cross section of the prem in terms of crowds and success etc

agreed, in the prem the fans were soooooo quiet

first season went to Villa, Blackburn, Liverpool, Man utd (league), Pompey, Spurs, Man City, Watford
seond season - arsenal only

ths would be a bad idea, the away teams used to be given the whole of the south and it didn't improve the atmosphere it only meant our fans were drowned out all the time.

Are drums the answer?

Well I am not sure, I think in some cases you need the drummer to lift the crowd and start them of chanting but sometimes it can overpower the singing and just get on dam nerves like the Blackburn Rovers drummer. What you need a mixture is a trumpet player/drummer and a standing area then the place would be electric.
