Presumably they got a bit if a discount on the basis that unlike every other football league club, our new kit won’t be released until a week or so before the season begins.

If only the football club was run the way Waitrose is :

Unlike other major supermarkets, Waitrose isn't owned by shareholders and the City. Instead, as part of the John Lewis Partnership, it's owned by everyone who works for the Partnership. (That's why Waitrose staff are called 'partners'.) And every year they share the profits that would normally go to shareholders. As you would expect this produces an extraordinary high level of committment amongst those who work in our stores. A good proportion of our Partners have worked for Waitrose for many years - over 20 is not unusual. They're interested in what they do and they're knowledgeable about what they sell. And the friendliness and helpfulness that our customers so often remark upon isn't really surprising when you realise that the Partners you meet in your local Waitrose do, in effect, own the store.

You can tell Waitrose is class because they say "8 items or fewer" not "8 items or less".

DG had a hand in the sponsorship deal, I'm sure.

LOL - if only, although I did do a contract at Waitrose Head Office a few years ago and did raise that very point!

But the simple fact is that Waitrose is one of Britain's most respected companies - we could Have had an internet bookmaker or equivalent!

And Adie William's dad worked at Waitrose for years, too!

Perhaps that’s where the club see the real money is. There’s not many clubs that have as many salubrious middle to upper class areas within a 45 minute radius of their ground. Waitrose have expanded a lot in the North recently, but their heartland remains in this part of the Thames Valley. I bet there’s a huge untapped population of loyal Waitrose and John Lewis customers who may well be interested in watching Reading, now that they’ve backed us.
